    Printing Battlemaps question (Help)

There should be something in your printer settings that says "print as actual size". Also check if there's an option for "borderless" or "remove borders".

    Devoted Paladin and Healing Hands

They stack, but remember to check the wording of the abilities. It only works for healing you give to others, not yourself.

    Inherent bonuses

PCs like the feel of improving their characters, whether that is getting new gear every few levels or getting an inherent bonus. Frankly, deviating from the core rules is too much work for my taste, especially to satisfy some subjective internal sense of what is the proper magic item...

Menlo Park, CA: Moving, need new group!

Gamekastle in Santa Clara is about 10 minutes away by car and has a very active gaming community. Game Kastle - Hobby Games & Collectibles I'd suggest you join the Living Forgotten Realms campaign and meet people. After a while, you can figure out who you enjoy gaming with and can ask around...

Why Must I Kludge My Combat?

I honestly don't know where this talk about a grind comes from. 95% of the time, combats take 45 minutes to resolve. The exceptions I've found are: 1) Solo Soldiers 2) No Strikers 3) Too many players 4) All the encounters are built like it was the climax of the adventure (i.e. 2+ levels...

    Full attack action

I don't think it exists. Your DM hates you. That or it's an ability the creature has.

    small group

Attacks and situations that cost the party actions will have greater impact in a small group. That means, Daze, Stun, and even Prone will have a greater effect. Likewise requiring skill challenges that take up a standard action in the middle of a fight will hurt.

    Playing a Diviner

It's mainly because everything in Evocation can be replicated by Conjuration or Alteration. So going Divination nets you an extra spell slot per level without any real opportunity costs because you only have to give up one school that you can live without.

Potential new tool for selling PDF's (or anything) quickly

Paypal itself already has a feature where you can have a pay or donate button you create link to a specific site after the transaction, or email the customer directly. You can just create a part of your website (under password or not) with the PDF and/or email the client the PDF/password. A...

    [Poll]: ePub Short Stories

From an unknown author, one I've never heard of before? Nothing. I might check out some free stuff. But a new author has to compete with dozens of free online content out there already. It's a strange market to enter into. You won't sell stuff unless you're known. But you won't get known...

    Moving the shaman's spirit companion

I wonder if this speaks more about the communication gap between Dragon and R&D, Dragon's editing, or Dragon's lead time on articles...

Starting a Horror game in a PbP - Guidance wanted

I tried a horror version of 4e D&D before. Worked very well. Until it got to the fights. Fighting foes that you know you can beat is not very conducive to a horror setting.

Forced teleport question - dropping the target

A tangent, but I've seen the "fight hundreds of feet in the air" encounters at low levels and always thought it was a bit iffy rules wise, though quite cinematic. Surprising how many DMs don't consider to vary the height of cliffs according to party level.

    Penny Arcade Podcast...Dark Sun #1

Nice! I had completely forgotten this was coming out. What a pleasant surprise on this dreary day (honestly, what's up with the weather in the SF Bay Area this month?).

    New DM looking for advice

The long, bogged down combats don't really happen in 3.5 until you hit higher levels and you get multiple attacks per round. So to avoid it, either plan to retire the characters at 10th level or ... actually, I don't have any other ideas about this. Even Pathfinder didn't manage to fix the...

    Is the Monk overpowered?

This is true. Player tactical ability plays a greater factor in how often rogue sneak damage gets applied. I know one guy that's fairly clueless and he gets one sneak attack per encounter at most.

    Best Healer?

The key to a successful leader...is to have something to do when you're not healing. Healing really is only a secondary function for leaders. If you want to do anything else besides play backup support, then I'd suggest against going the pacifist healer route. Yeah, it's powerful healing...

    Do You Blog?

I have a fantasy humor comic where I often talk about D&D in the blog posts since that's where most of the inspiration for the strip comes from. Familiar Ground - An epic fantasy comedy, from a familiar point of view.

WotC should make an online SRD....

I so wish this would happen. Right now, if you want PDFs, you need to scan your own books or go download illegal PDFs. How hard is it to generate user specific code (both obvious and hidden) and implant them into the PDF so DDI users can use download them, but won't be inclined to share them...

    Turning Undead

Of course, if he fails to turn the dozen incorporeal level drainers and they attack him before he goes again, it might be a moot point. :)
