Replacing Nightmare (5th) effect with other spells

--------------- SKIP all this, and go down to my second post, I've reworded the question into a better answerable form! --------------- This is somewhat half-formed, so bear with me. Dream is 5th level: Casting Time 1 minute Range: Unlimited Save/SR: None, Yes Duration: Varies Project...

    Star Trek Races

This is incredibly entertaining. Wish I had more sold Trekkies to run a space game with. Out of curiosity, where did the "humpbacks giving citizenry" bit come from, or is that your own creation?

    Feats for Fire Creatures?

I managed to discern the existance of the Firestorm Berserker, way back in Dragon 314, which gives a lot of those bonuses, and ties in well with the barbarian, so he's reviewing that. The shujenga seems to have a sort of elemental focus to it, a few levels of that would get some fire spells going.

    Feats for Fire Creatures?

We're starting a new game, and one of my players is wanting to play a barbarian which comes from a tribe that worships fire/fire creatures/whatever. He also wants some fire-based powers, so I'm first thinking of some spellcaster multiclass. However, I find the "Blazing Berserker" feat in...

    Eric Noah's Info

Makes sense, really. Heck, I've got a professional miniaturist and a budding amateur in my group, they buy the plastic minis and often redo them to great effect for custom PC/NPC jobs. (green stuff? some sort of putty.) We also tend to err towards kick-in-the-door, so we use them a lot. (we're...

    Eric Noah's Info

The hydra's getting nerfed, I'll tell ya that much. And the Chimera? Not so chimeric anymore.

    Eric Noah's Info

I'm glad I previewed, I had a big old reply that would've looked stupid with this new info. Or gearing up interest/speculation for GenCon? There may very well be a biggish product coming out that could sound like a 4E but isn't (like the Basic Set sorts of ideas above). That's almost too bad...

OSRIC: something for the old schoolers

This is great. I'll have to bring this on a player-short game night and we'll play like it's 1985. What plans are there to expand the SRD via OSRIC into other subjects that 1E books covered? (survival guides, etc) (my luv of OSRIC know no limit? Can I do that? Is that too much?)

Class Features via Point Buy? (looking for old thread?)

There was a thread discussing (or promoting a book) some time ago about a conversion detailing all the class features and whatnot in a 'point buy' sort of system - I've totally lost track of what it was called/titled - if anyone is able to point me in the right direction. Thankya! Koewn

    Walking a Wall of Fire

Well, that's the way we've always played it, athough without that actual explanation. (we played as if the wall was 5 ft thick) Add on to that how cones/spheres are figured as well - on the edges of the effect, the spell doesn't have enough of a percentage of the 5 ft square covered, so it...

    Walking a Wall of Fire

Has there ever been discussion on what happens if you walk along the "burning line" of a Wall of Fire? I'd tossed down a couple short ones last weekend in a dungeon, catching opponents in them, and occasionally the only way out was "down the line". Due to space limitations, they could extract...

[blatant whoring] Forget what size category your child is?

I don't think my daughter (size Tiny) actually has a penalty to grapple. (either that, or I took a Flaw involving my grapple score). Good stuff either way.

Low Con and Hit Points: Reducing the Sting

Lowest score I've ever played with was a Strength of 5 on a halfling. I had to sneak attack to do more than 1 pt of damage with a dagger. (fortunately this was 3.0, so a Dagger of Sure Striking helped with DR). Once, I had a chance to break a large gem that was a phylactery for a dracolich...

May 2005 WotC Previews and Beyond

Yeay!! Someone remembers my work. Well, what there is of it. I haven't seen that Dungeon either, but it's an interesting comparison betwixt my buffalo and their horses. Under what I remember of my rules I'd still have more hitpoints in my 'horse' mob, taking up a larger area. ACs are...

So, if you've accepted the Warlock's 9d6 Eldritch Blast; what if it healed?

Correct. Since out-of-combat time is basically..over 14,350 rounds a day (assuming 50 rounds in combat a day, 6 second rounds), we've got a lot of healing that can get done. That's a big number, so time isn't a worry. Every other crazy power eventually gets broken down into gold pieces, (all...

So, if you've accepted the Warlock's 9d6 Eldritch Blast; what if it healed?

Well, I'd been considering having 'Essences' for this Healock that modify it's heal-touch to also perhaps do poison, or disease, or whatever. I'll grant that with only...what, 12 invocations?...you'd never be able to fully replicate a Cleric, but you could only emulate fully certain roles - the...

So, if you've accepted the Warlock's 9d6 Eldritch Blast; what if it healed?

Heh - fair enough. Honestly, you did get me on that one; calling the group I play with...unsubtle in tactics is an understatement, and nonlethal damage comes up so little it may as well not exist. No-one but I tended to play rogues; and I'm a wizard right now. I dunno. I don't really look at...

So, if you've accepted the Warlock's 9d6 Eldritch Blast; what if it healed?

True, that. The good and bad part about d20 is that it's simple; especially the damage, healing, and 'time' measurements. Combat and most activities don't make a PC just plain old 'tired'. Hacking through a gelatinous cube should wear someone out for a day. Channelling divine power should make...

So, if you've accepted the Warlock's 9d6 Eldritch Blast; what if it healed?

Healocks. :) I like that. And another good point. It's so much easier to post half-baked ideas here for cooking rather than attempting to think for myself :) :) Aside from removing the stacking of Damage Points and Nonlethal Points, I see no way to fix that. I'd hate to create a third...
