    For a fun mechanic, replace 1s with max value on the die. So instead of 6d6+6 you get 6d6 but each 1 is +5. The bonus is a bit less than +6 (5/6 per die instead of +1 per die), but it doesn't raise the max. It is reasonably VTT friendly -- just look at the 1s and add a bonus.
