What is and isn't Space Opera?

To me a space opera has big battles in outer space, romance, high tech, adventure, and is often a bit campy and perhaps unrealistic. Like a soap opera in outer space, but with space tropes instead of soap tropes. It is a scifi on a grand adventurous scale. Which would make Star Wars undeniably a...

D&D General Creating a Pride Flag for my D&D setting

I would think that magical beings that live as long as elves, are wise enough to not really care very much about gender. They have hundreds of years to figure out how they identify, and I would imagine elven society just wouldn't make a big deal out of it. So the concept of a pride flag...

D&D General Creating a Pride Flag for my D&D setting

My thoughts: It seems odd to me that elves would have need for a pride flag, as I would expect elven culture to be far more accepting of diversity than human culture. I do applaud such representation in D&D. But I think this is better done through including LGBTQ characters, and having it just...

Level Up (A5E) Spells that would ruin the world

A good friend of mine ran a campaign around a kingdom where wishing was forbidden. Because every time someone uttered a wish, it automatically came true. The wish spell is bad enough as it is. But imagine living in a world where you don't even need to cast the spell. Anyone who was having a bad...

5e rule set for Call of Cthulhu

    Great advise all! :)

5e rule set for Call of Cthulhu

So it seems I really want to wait for a proper 5e Modern then. Because I don't want the D&D classes, I want the various investigator roles that were in D20 Cthulhu, but adapted to 5e, or something similar.

5e rule set for Call of Cthulhu

I have the 3rd edition D20 Cthulhu book, and have played it often. However, my new group of players is used to 5e. So if I was to run a campaign for them, I would like it to be with a system they're familiar with.

5e rule set for Call of Cthulhu

I've been playing a bit more D&D 5e recently, after playing 3.5 for most of my life. I was wondering if there is a good book/ruleset for Call of Cthulhu style campaigns, but with 5e rules? What I'm looking for, is something that plays just like D&D 5e, but has suitable classes for Cthulhu...

    If you had a robot…

Absolutely. My cat isn't very intelligent, but I still treat him with respect and politeness.

    Obi-Wan Kenobi (spoilers)

This is a big presumption. Do we know this for a fact? Obi Wan lives divorced from civilization for the most part. All he knows is that the Empire is continuing to hunt down Jedi. Obi Wan has been in hiding for a while. I think it isn't until the events of the first episode of the show, that...

    Obi-Wan Kenobi (spoilers)

I don't believe he does. I don't think Obi Wan knows what or who Anakin is at this point. He is a different person from the Anakin he knew. Keep in mind, it has been years since the slaughter at the Jedi temple. Obi Wan has lived as an outcast all this time, believing Anakin was dead. Then he...

    Obi-Wan Kenobi (spoilers)

Alderaan would have been blown up with or without Vader. It also seems a bit silly to critique Obi Wan's decision to spare Vader, based on future atrocities commited by Vader that Obi Wan has no knowledge of. All that really matters is character motivation. Obi Wan appears horrified by what...

    Obi-Wan Kenobi (spoilers)

This is how I interpreted the scene as well. Obi Wan has a mix of pity and horror when he sees what Anakin has become. He wasn't ready to see Anakin like this. He recoils, rather than finish the job.

    Obi-Wan Kenobi (spoilers)

To me, it seemed Obi Wan was shocked to see what his friend had become; perhaps a fate worse than death. Vader, trapped in his own suit. I think that stayed his hand.

    Obi-Wan Kenobi (spoilers)

I liked it. I wanted to see a Qui Gon force ghost, and I got it at the end. I really liked the scene where Obi Wan cuts half of Vaders helmet off, and we see mutilated Hayden inside. They did that perfectly. Some of the screens in the dark scenes were a bit too obvious, but overall really well...

So, next wednesday is the last episode of the show I think? Wonder how they will end it.
