    Astral Fire

Weapon Focus vs the spell damage feat comparisons make me angry. Given that its impossible to focus completely on 1 energy type as a warlock, trying to equal what weapon focus does for melees would take me about 3 feat slots and 13s in almost every stat. Meanwhile weapon focus doesn't have any...

    Paladin's Divine Challenge

This wouldn't happen anyway, since they only take damage if they attack someone other than the paladin. So they can chase the paladin as long as they like just fine.

    D&D 4E 4e, Non-Martial Characters, and Limited Feat Choices

Well, its just different ways of representing it. When you say 5% to hit, what you mean is that your % chance to hit is changed by 5 (eg 30% to 35%). What he says is that your % chance to hit is changed by 15% (eg 30% to 35%)

    ranged weapon status

No, because while it is a basic attack, it isn't a weapon. If you had a power that said for example: "You grant everyone in your party 1 basic attack" then the wizard in the party could use a magic missile instead of throwing a dart, thats generally what the basic attacks are for.

    Ranger is the new monk?

Strikers are kinda funny; melee rangers and warlocks will generally have poorish AC, while rogues and bow rangers will have defender levels of AC if they max their dex like they should. Wizards will get pretty top notch AC too. +hit/ac/damage all keyed to one stat for some classes but not others...

    D&D 4E 4e, Non-Martial Characters, and Limited Feat Choices

The stat prereqs on most of the feats are just silly. 15 str & 15 con for plate ? Why? My 8 str halfling paladin is proficient and can wear it with no penalties, so why can't any other class ? It also irks me that while I can be a full time infernal warlock with 8 charisma, if I just want to...

    Ranger > Warlock

Oops I didn't realise that... in that case, maybe the curse is better since I don't think there's any feats to set multiple quarries at a time. You can still only do damage once per round tho, so its not too much of an issue; altho it can free up some minor actions for the warlock if he has to...

    Ranger > Warlock

Warlock's curse also has a huge disadvantage, in that you must curse the closest creature. It doesn't even let you target the closest uncursed creature, just the closest creature.

    KotS Play Question: Paladins

To be fair the KotS paladin was made with 22 point buy, whereas yours certainly wasn't ! Rolled stats ? With 22 point buy I was thinking along the lines of 10 str, 12 con, 14 dex, 8 int, 16 wis, 18 cha for a halfling paladin (including racial mods, obviously). Not having con at 14 makes me cry...

    Tiefling Paladin... Ouch

Oh.. that should be +3 from str, as far as I can tell there's no 1.5x str.

    Tiefling Paladin... Ouch

Versatile weapons do a flat +1 damage if used 2 handed. And yeah fiery rebuke is decent, keep in mind tho that a dragonborn gets a close blast 5 breath weapon that eventually hits for 3d10 + stat mod as a minor action (if feated up). Tiefling isn't horrible, its just a whole lot more niche than...

    Warlock, levels 1,10,20

Personally I think the warlock's curse should be limited to once per target per round rather than once per target; and yeah the warlock's damage does seem kinda low, altho I'm not sure if thats just at certain levels... it feels a lot more 'controller', except without the large area effects. As...

    Core Handbook Errors Discussion

The fighter weapon table on pg 77 lists Wisdom (and rarely dexterity) as the governing attribute for polearms, this is in relation to powers that work better with specific weapons and grant secondary effects etc. However of the 3 powers that work better with polearms, none of them use wisdom at...

    Multiclassing woes

No, I just thought the synergies stacked up well. As a fighter you'll likely have con as either you're highest or 2nd highest stat, which meshes nicely with infernal pact warlock where con is the key stat. Also, infernal pact warlock directly benefits being a tank, as so many of the powers grant...

    Multiclassing woes

So I was looking a bit at the warlock, whether playing it as primary or multiclassing into it from something else and I noticed a few things that were pretty annoying. For starters, the obvious fighter/infernal pact warlock doesn't work very well... because even tho with infernal pact con is...

The pendulum swings back: Humans suck once again

Stat gains aren't every 4 levels, they're at 4, 8, 11, 14, 18, 21, 24 and 28... so assuming you do +1 to primary stat every level, the one at lvl 28 will be important assuming you started with it at an even number. (the stat gains at 11 and 21 are +1 all stats, the others are +1 to 2 different...

The pendulum swings back: Humans suck once again

Thats not completely true; your initial at wills are eldritch blast and 1 other determined by your pact. You don't actually get to choose them like everyone else does (which is a bit annoying since the infernal at will targets the same defense as eldritch blast does; I'd much prefer 2 at wills...

    You're Marked..how and what'sum'up?

Think of it in sports terms (eg soccer, basketball etc). You 'marking' a monster means that you're sticking to it like glue and getting in its way when it tries to do certain things (eg attack others). Obviously the positional aspect of that sort of thing is difficult considering you're meant to...

    Spell Thieves and Pearls

I'd probably let them; its not like spell thieves are in any danger of being overpowered.

    good PRC's for Paladins?

Paladins already have half casting, so half progression on that is 1/4 casting... thats just horrible ;/
