    Announcement Images on flash drive

Here's mine. They were labeled as Eladrin Wizard and Fighter-Rogue.

OD&D(1974) Assault on the Temple of Elemental Evil

Thanks. After my plane lands at 2, I'm going to check-in and then see about signing up for some events. I'll wander over after that.

    Warmage versus Duskblade

drothgery has the right of it. Warmage probably owes something to Hackmaster's Battlemage class (Teflon Billy in Knights of the Dinnertable). The criteria for having something on their spell list is, "does it cause damage?" I've seen a couple in play, and they were great for dishing out the...

OD&D(1974) Assault on the Temple of Elemental Evil

So, as the day approaches, what's the start time and place? I can't roll dice in an outdated system if I don't know where to go (and Indy strikes me as too big a place to just wander looking for someone who looks vaguely diagloesque)

ANyone got Expedition to Castle Greyhawk yet?

I'm waiting on it. I have a bundled order of it with Forges of War and Complete Champion, and one of these days Amazon is going to ship it. 3-5 business days later, I will be a happy gamer.

    Henchmen, Followers, Cohorts and Companions

In earlier editions, the groups I was in often had 2 or 3 players, so it was natural for everyone to play two characters. I can only think of one campaign where NPCs figured heavily into, and in that one there was almost no difference between the PCs and the NPC followers. In 3.x, my group has...

If there's space, I'm pretty sure I have Wednesday evening open.

    My simple prediction about Gleemax

Wait, what? The name comes from MtG, and names have to come from somewhere. MtG is by no means the only or even primary focus of the site. Have you looked? They do have a FAQ posted: http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=889662

ENnies 2008 Judge Voting is Open

Side effect of being an air force brat- I'm a California native, but my Dad was stationed at Ellsworth when I was in the 4th grade, and we settled here. After grad school didn't work out, I came home. It is always neat seeing what sorts of gamers this state produces.

ENnies 2008 Judge Voting is Open

He seems like a great guy- very prolific reviewer (and one of the reasons I've started reviewing), and a very positive poster in every thread I've seen him in. I plan to be at the ENnies, and I should have one of Xath's name badges, so you should be able to pick me out of crowd. After having...

This Should Be An Interesting Exercise

Maybe turn this into a weekly or bi-weekly thing? Family adventure night. Sure, running for a 7 year old is going to be different than for kids your own age, but you can at least stay in practice.

ENnies 2008 Judge Voting is Open

Changing situations. C.W. Richeson has mentioned he'll be taking the bar exam this coming year, so he's probably got enough reading to keep him busy. For me, I figured WotC paying for me to attend GenCon, and the possibility of a seat on the Gleemax advisory board, probably DQ'd me on the "no...

This Should Be An Interesting Exercise

Glad it went well. My wife's style of gaming is very different than mine (and the rest of the group, for that matter), so I'm happy whenever I can run something that crosses over enough that she can enjoy. Also, good job on hooking the next generation of gamers. How'd it feel to be behind the...

    Pre-Gen Con WotC Press Conference

Maggan- my BS detector caught fire a while back, so I have no idea if you're pulling our collective leg here. But that would make sense; it'd explain why they've been pulling in their licenses, and it would give a more trustworthy label than D20 for books. Last night, I was reading Erik...

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

Oh, I'm sure you're at least as disapointed as I am- no blame to you. I'll see it when it comes out.

Couple of "I don't have the book with me" questions ...

    1. www.d20srd.org says it's based on character level, so I think just 7 for the character 2. The first buyoff is at 6th level. The character must pay an amount of XP equal to (his current ECL -1) × 1,000. So, a 6th level half-ogre (LA+2) has an ECL 8, so pays 7000 XP, making him a 6th level...

Drat. I had hoped I'd be able to see that.

Higher spell slots used for lower level spells?

I was fond of Monte Cook's way in Arcana Unearthed, where a caster could weave together 3 lower slots to power a higher level spell, or use a higher slot to pay for two lower spells. I've tried porting it into regular D&D, but it requires some messing with memorization to work right.

Who Is Going To GenCon 2007?

Say what you will about Gleemax, but thanks to that site I'll be going for my first time.
