    Simultaneous actions?

That sounds awesome. While I've wanted to play with children before (wait that came out wrong!) I've yet to try it with my nephews and niece. I'm used to playing with adults and use graphic descriptions and adult themes (again, not what you think!). It must be challenging to play such a game...

Help please - Cohorts: Leadership, Hired, Bought

The companion/familar Leadship penalty is a matter of balance rather than any in-game consequence. I play in a campaign where most of the other PCs have animal companions. These gain HDs and buffs depending on the PC level and thus become comparatively powerful to PCs, in addition to giving...

    Simultaneous actions?

Hey ty I didn't expect such a positive reaction but thank you anyway. That said I'm still a bit worried about pitfalls, possibility for abuse (but not more than already exists with the ready action), and that it may or may not slow down combat. So I'd like some more responses before even...

1 PC vs. One monster. Advice?

I reccomend starting with lower-CR opponents and have the PC in question decide how far up he wants to go. Just add a bit to the CR every time. In the end the arena will run out of high-CR monsters or the PC will die. There are of course ways of "cheating" as noted. Since the goal is...

    Mercenaries: Help Pricing Adventurer Hirelings?

I think the best solution is to require shares for any PC-class hirelings. The actual pay should be determined by NPC level and also by the party level. So if the 1st level party wants to hire a 5th level cleric he might not settle for just a share. He may even demand half a share unless they...

    Simultaneous actions?

Hey eveyone. I was thinking a bit about actions in 3.5 and Pathfinder. Normal combat is seperated by initative scores. A does his actions, then B, then C etc. The only exception is Ready actions, interrupts, and AoOs. And the occasional DM that likes to have his minions act at the same time to...

Salt and Seadogs - Kingdoms of Kalamar

I actually think you're on to something, and I also think these numbers must be a bit exaggerated. Pirates are fun and in fantasy games they tend to be overpowered, overrepresented or the like. In fact this is a common falacy in RPGs in general that there can be almost more bandits around than...

Pathfinder 1E Critical Fumbles: Need Help Convincing DM

You haven't been very clear so far... But this answers the question with YES, having multiple attacks does increase the chance of fumbling ONCE per round. Not quite as much as if you had roll a check on all of them, and clearly not as bad as natural 1 is always fumble, but it's still there...

Pathfinder 1E Critical Fumbles: Need Help Convincing DM

So if he rolls 2, 4, 1, and 20 then he doesn't fumble? As comparison if he had one only attack he would have rolled just 2.

Pathfinder 1E Critical Fumbles: Need Help Convincing DM

Do you mean only one chance (roll) at fumbling per round, or you mean you cannot double fumble... because of it is the latter then it is hardly any different as many fumble results will disrupt all the other attacks as well.

Pathfinder 1E Critical Fumbles: Need Help Convincing DM

Hmm even with confirm fumble rules it still is far from perfect. A 20th level fighter will still fumble more frequently than a 1st level fighter, because of the multiple number of attacks. Yes he has a much higher to hit bonus, but the enemies have much higher AC too, which means it almost evens...

The classes at "high level" (14th)

Hmm which "I win" spells in question do you think need longer casting time? I can see quite a few that has been changed. Also, I don't think making it full-round action will matter that much except annoy the spellcasters a bit. Old school? I don't know how they handled concentation in 2nd ed...

The classes at "high level" (14th)

If you read my post you would see they already have done so (1 round is actually longer than 1 full-round action), and Before you would succeed most concentration checks at high level automatically but not you have maybe as much as 50% chance of failure which makes casting defensively "icky."

The classes at "high level" (14th)

Just to point something out: Sleep has been cited as the low-level "I win" spell. Yeah it is, but have you noticed the 1 round casting time? It mean in most cases enemy archers can easily disrupt the spell before it is cast, thus far from "I win." The Sorc in my game still uses it, but unless...

Sense Motive: How do you do it?

No one's going to bother to do that, but if you're playing say a murder mystery, I would want to use Sense Motive each and every time I interact with a potential witness or other source of information... which essentially boils down to the DM might as well roll secretly anyway. I would...

Sense Motive: How do you do it?

Who says interaction is based solely through skill checks? While this is a viable option, you can also combine it with roleplaying the conversations. The about lies is that the character in question might have difficulty concealing it, some people are just poor liars. This is generally not...

D&D 4E Is Pathfinder Combat As Slow as 4e?

This isn't a normal D&D combat, it's a freaking battle! I don't even think 3 hours was bad, as this was certainly the biggest event that evening. How did it work out? If I had to do something like that I would only roll dice for the creatures the PCs engage and simply describe the flow of...

    The 2nd best fighter...

Well of course both are at the same level so damage output and ac will be similar and mostly dependent on gear chosen. If Dexter boosts his dex to 22, then yes he will have the same to hit. But unless the enemy can only be hit on a natural 20 for both, having multiple attack will not matter as...

Sense Motive: How do you do it?

LOL ok. Me, I kinda like bluffing the NPCs :)= And the more outrageous, the better ;) But seriously, as long as it's equal it's fair. I'm kinda confused here.. do you agree with me or did you forget some negatives here and there?
