I could be wrong about this but didn't you factor in more of the archer's feats. The fighter should get 2 more feats to make it even. Plus sooner or later the archer is going to be forced into melee combat with another fighter and be at a dissavantage.

Souls could also be more or less valuable depending on whom they are from. A soul of a commoner might not produce as much energy for a infernal machine as a 25th level wizard and ect.

I have to agree. All the commercial swords they sell are nothing more than sharp toys. Especially the katanas. I don't know why some people think a stamped out piece of steel is as good as something that is forged and folded over and over by a master swordmaker.

A magical sword will never dull or rust under normal circumstances so their would be no maintance involved with it.
