    D&D 4E Preliminary 4E tweaks

    So, a simultanious attack of Str vs Fort and Ref? I like it. Maybe redefine the effects a bit: Both hit - Bull rush as normal Hits Fort only - Target shifts on square itself in any direction, attacker takes place (couldn't resist moving, only avoid the actual pushing) Hits Ref only - Target is...

    D&D 4E Preliminary 4E tweaks

    Well, I'd say keep the multiclassing as is, and just add a new feat for the rangers ability to use one handed weapons as off hand. Just make the ranger multiclass feat a requirement, and that should be good enough.

    D&D 4E Preliminary 4E tweaks

    So theres going to be lots of small house rules that correct or supplement what is lacking (or perceived as so) in the core books. I thought I'd have a shake at a couple things complained about so far (and that I'll be addressing in my own games), and I'll invite you all to add your own. I...

    Greatsword is dead!

    Which begs the question: Why isn't it +2/2d6? Larger damage and harder to hit with seems perfectly in theme, did they just want to make all swords +3 to hit or what? Or more likely, did they make it so no weapons use multiple dice for damage?

    "I add my strength to my breath." "Your breath is strong?"

    Strength base breath weapon? Sure! Lighting breath? Of course! But what I really want is for my dragonborn pallies to breathe charisma based radiant damage on their enemies. That's where the awesome is.

    Martial Controller: Auxiliary (Version 0.11) -Updated Preview Character (Aug. 9th)

    This is shaping up to be a really neat concept. I'm not quite as sure of it fitting the role of a controller though, it looks like a solid striker/controller hybrid. If you really want a stronger controller aspect put more focus into area effects and action manipulation, especially for the...

    Five Alignments?

    Am I the only one who simply likes this? The way I see it, every alignment had a social aspect to them in respect to laws and such, but Lawful Good and Chaotic Evil doubled as the "strict moral code" and "just kill everything" roles. No other alignment had such additional extremes to them. So...

    Monk = __________ Striker

    For the life of me, I can't figure out how this constitutes a controller. Affecting the enemy by knocking them prone, grappling them, moving them, or whatever kind of condition or effect may seem like "control" of a kind, but *every* class has that to some degree or another. Controllers are the...

    Random Skill Challenge Generator

    What really impresses me about this idea isn't just that it's handy, but that it inspires creativity like nobodies business. A draw of the cards can not only lead to an adventure, but possibly seed an entire campaign. Someone needs to write up some kind of program for this, maybe something...

    Monk = __________ Striker

    If the monk is anything but martial, an unarmed martial class would still be needed. For that reason alone, I expect monks to be martial. Besides, they got very little that was supernatural, and most of that at higher levels... paragon paths, anyone? The divine/arcane/psionic/ki/whatever theme...

    The Dual Class (ver. 2)

    Thanks to the new warlord at will powers, I can create a complete sample dual classed character! Billy here is focused around combat movement, both of his allies and himself. And since his allies are a gang of bloodthirsty halfling rogues, this proves to be very effective. Enjoy! Billy...

    Warlord At-Will Powers level 1 via June Preview

    Er, you do realize that this is only a preview? And that there are likely a half dozen or more at will powers to choose from? It's a bit early to start complaining about what a class lacks at this point.

    Warlord At-Will Powers level 1 via June Preview

    Excellent point, and very cool use of the power... but the description seems kinda odd for it, with the warlord yelling advice at himself to attack. :)

    Paladins mark "fix" a plazebo?

    Well, in a drag out battle with all other resources spent, it could prove an effective last ditch effort for a paladin. But yeah I was referring to a paladin/striker multiclass. There's another scenario where a paladin can use this method to great advantage: fighting a striker. Especially one...

    Paladins mark "fix" a plazebo?

    So the paladin, a defender, can only take exploit his marking power by acting like a striker? I don't really see the problem here, even with multiclassing into a striker role the benefit is limited, and a striker that dips into paladin can only do this to one enemy per encounter. I like the way...

    Multiclassing tidbit.

    Agreed. There is nothing new to multiclassing here that I can see, just a wizard that has access to a fighter feat and power that are in a future book.

    The Dual Class (ver. 2)

    Alright I revised it again, setting it at a solid 2.0 version. Barring some new info on multiclassing, class features or the like this should be the last update before the books come out. Changes in this version: -Now the effect of superior dabbler is weaker but effects both multiclass feats...

    The Dual Class (ver. 2)

    Ok, the combos were looking a bit unbalanced with Superior Dabbling sometimes giving the best features of both classes, so I toned it down to only apply to one, and made each effect specific. Also, dual classed wizards ended up getting a full additional at-will power with the old rule which...

    The Dual Class (ver. 2)

    I was considering that, but I didn't want to complicate it too much right away, and the loss of other class features might be a fair exchange. I thought an average would be the safest... but this may be a case where 'best of either' is the better option. I'll change it to that. Edit: Actually...

    The Dual Class (ver. 2)

    This is just a simple attempt to create a more 50/50 even split form of multiclassing, without creating some kind of complicated alternate multiclassing system to do so. This is actually a single class, that just combines features of two others. Of course we don't have all the information on the...
