You call yourself a Drizzt fanboy?

If the swords weren't virtually identical, they wouldn't be as useful. Remember, Drizzt trained and fought most of his life with two identical swords, before finding Icingdeath in The Crystal Shard. Blame the odd identical nature on both sword's magical natures. (If full plate can fit itself...

BAB 20+! (not epic BAB, regular)

Only one kensai should be able to give the bonus at any one time. In general, the same bonus from the same power does not stack. (i.e., if two clerics cast bless on you, you still only get a single +1 morale bonus.) Yes on the Power Attack (fear power attacking dragons!), no on the iterative...

    Which is better?

That's an erroenous conclusion. Spell points / slots are how you measure what spells you cast each day, not when and how you pick them. A spell-point using D&D wizard still has to prepare their spells ahead of time. Just like every other main spellcaster save the Bard and Sorceror. (For the...

Scent, Spot, Listen, Blindsight....as skill checks?

IMC, I'm going to formally change "Spot" and "Listen" to "Awareness" and "Altertness." The first allows you to notice details in the area around you, the second lets you notice changes in the area around you. Hide will remain as is (and be oppsed by Awareness), while "Move Silently" will...

Help Make a Better Reference Doucment

PRD Development Begins The Free Gaming Association is please to announce that, starting today, we are beginning the methodical process of creating an open, extensible set of reference documents for use with the Prometheus logo and all similar systems. Over the next nine weeks, we will focus...

    what is OGL

Nope. Mage, Hunter, and Exaulted all feature "humans", and they each have rules for mundanes as well. Exaulted is the best if you're going for "fantasy." And the Dragon-blooded (which is a second book you'd have to buy) are even modest in their power level. ;)

Converting PDF files to Word files

Acrobat can't export PDF to Word. The closest it can come is little better than copy-and-paste of the text. HOWEVER, a good OCR software should be able to take PDF as an original, and extract it to a word document. Scansoft's Omnipage does just that--we use it at work, and it does the...

Cool beans. E-mail me off-board (it's in my profile.)

    Want something to read?

Darn agents... I'm looking for fantasy fans to read through at least the first part of my novel, From Darkness Into Light, and brutally tell me everything that's wrong with it. Heck, I'd probably accept people just reading it and giving me a rambling, semi-coherent opinion of the whole...

    what is OGL

Wrong on both parts. Prometheus is an indicator of compatability. By putting the logo on a product, a publisher is saying "You can use this with other products that have this logo"--which is what d20 has come to mean, as well. And we do have a few "3rd party publishers" who have already...

UA- Defense Bonuses and Action Points?

Yes it does, Eric. ANYONE can use the OGL, and quote, surmise, paraphrase, direct copy, etc. any Open Gaming Content that they want--provided that they include a copy of the OGL when they do so. (EnWorld may have different rules in the FAQ--but that's not what you said.) The only reason...

    what is OGL

One already exists. The prometheus compatability licenses is many things, and one of those is a "drop-in" d20TL replacement, with much fewer restrictions. YOu can read more about it at http://www.theFGA.com/

    Angel, Smallville, Enterprise--and TV politics.

Lousy, good-for-nothing, greedy, penny-pinching, short sighted corporate suits! For some unknown reason, essentially EVERY half-intelligent fantasy/sci-fi drama is on Wednesday nights. At UPN Enterprise and a succession of half-hearted shows go head to head against Smallville and Angel, all...

    The End of Angel

"just another TV Show?" Think about that for a minute. Most crossovers between Cinema and television are the screen expanding, not contracting. Of the hundred or so popular movie/series combinations, only a few started out as movies. And the most memoriable of them? M*A*S*H, which was...

[rant] Fighting intellectual theft on WOTC

It's even worse than that. Thanks to the Open Gaming License, it IS allowable to share the rules we game with among friends, gaming groups, and people we've never even met. But there are rules to be followed, and the very same factors--Copyleft and ignorance--that led to so much software...

Unearthed Arcana: Reputation, Honor, and Taint?

Can someone kindly fill me in on what the differences between Reputation, Honor, and Taint are? I'm familiar with the Reputation system in d20 Modern, and have been trying to use it for awhile--but it's just not clicking with fantasy.

    D20 Modern psionic system

Interesting I saw this earlier, but I can't reply at work. If you still have feats, I have a psionic system for you. Formerly called _The Craft of the Mind_, _Mindcraft_ is going to be released by Alea Publishing later this month. Mindcraft used to work similiarly to how you suggestsed...

Winter Campaign Rules (Do they exist?)

Have you actually looked at the DMG? There are rules there for cold dangers, and, IIRC, rules for fighting in snow or ice, and movement penalties for the same. The PH also has enough rules--I believe that survival is (or can be made) more difficult in harsh climates like winter.

    Hit Location charts?

Actually, I do have a mechanicall need for it. But I already have rules for it. I can throw a five-minute chart together myself; I was hoping someone had one that they put a few hours thought into, or somene had an opinion on the charts in a published product.

    Hit Location charts?

I'm looking for extant OGL Hit Location rules. Preferrably with an online version, as my cash flow's a bit tight for new gaming materials at the moment. What I need is a chart (or charts) that allows a character to roll a die and determine where their hit lands. I don't need rules for...
