    D&D 5E (2014) Ideas for a Crystalline Biome?

In terms of the setting, it might help to add depth by specifying what type of crystals are present rather than just having everything look like generic quartz. E.g. mountains of malachite, rivers of azurite, etc. - "The BBEG's eyes were as black schorl, his sword, the dull grey of magnetite...

OSR Old school wizards, how do you play level 1?

I stay in the back, and only use my dagger when absolutely necessary. :)

D&D General Beadle & Grimm's Matthew Lillard Launches D&D-themed Bourbon

There are many good sipping bourbons. To start try Wild Turkey 101, Rare Breed, Knob Creek 9, "1792", Elijah Craig. Then move on to Old Forester 1920, Russell's Reserve, 4 Roses Single Barrel, Penelope, Barrell Bourbon, to name a few. Unfortunately, a lot of celebrity or event whiskeys aren't...

D&D 5E (2014) What are the "True Issues" with 5e?

IMO, the biggest issue is that zero to hero happens to quickly, and that the monsters (as written) don't scale well with PC power at the higher levels.

How Old Were You When You Played Your First TTRPG?

    12 years old - 1979.

    Sex at the Table

In the seven years that my group played 5E (typically weekly), sex was involved twice, and it was just mentioned in general terms with the scene "fading to black" before it progressed beyond PG.

D&D 5E (2024) Are you going to buy the new 2024 D&D Core Books

I was going to mention what I would be purchasing, but I thought it might drive the thread off topic. :)

D&D 5E (2024) Are you going to buy the new 2024 D&D Core Books

So, you really don't think WoTC will be offering a subscription service to their VTT, and charging for various in-VTT items? I think it's pretty clear that that is the direction they're are heading in.

D&D 5E (2024) Are you going to buy the new 2024 D&D Core Books

No, I won't be purchasing any WoTC products. No books, no subscriptions, no microtransactions.

D&D 5E (2024) Class spell lists and pact magic are back!

Ultimately it doesn't matter. For a substantial percentage of the RPG players, D&D is the one and only (RPG) game that they would ever consider playing. So, unless WoTC's implements changes that make the game completely unplayable and unfun, people will just grumble about what they don't like...

WotC Hasbro CEO Chris Cox, "I would say that the underlying thesis of our D&D business is all about digital,”

Back to the OP question - WoTC is moving in a digital direction because they believe it will generate the most revenue. That's what corporations do. WoTC is no different. Whether they actually maintain the analog side of the business in the long run, no one knows. I suspect they'll maintain to...

D&D 5E (2024) How Will They Fix Warlock Spellcasting Issues?

My take: Slots equal to proficiency bonus+ CHA (or INT) modifier + 1 extra every 3 levels. Partial recovery on a short rest, full recovery on a long rest.

Starfinder should drop it's ties to fantasy, and become a pure Sci-Fi game.

D&D General Should D&D Be "Hard"

Is qualifying language really needed?... I thought it was pretty obvious that people are sharing their opinion, as I doubt anyone in this thread has any sway at WoTC. And even if they did, it still wouldn't matter, as no one can force you to play their way.

D&D General Should D&D Be "Hard"

It's just my opinion. Others may disagree, and play differently. You are entitled to your opinion, as am I.

D&D General Should D&D Be "Hard"

There should always be the risk of character death. Permadeath.... D&D currently makes it too easy to recover from zero hp.

Edition Wars are good for Enworld!

Per WoTC there are no more editions...therefore no more wars. :D

    Illusionism: Where Do You Stand?

Railroads are good in that they keep the session in focus of the objective. To have a truly open/random world would be a lot of work for the DM.

WoTC should keep half elves and half orcs as their own separate species. (and rename them if necessary)
