    Cursed Items

They seem to currently be gone from 4e, probably under the idea that anything that hinders the PCs is not fun. I must admit however, that I used very few cursed items as a GM. Many were just kind of silly, others seemed to have no real purpose. When I do use cursed items however, they were...

Where are the Unarmed Combat rules?

It has come up before in other threads, and one of these days I will have to look it up and check, but it seems that unarmed DOES count as a weapon, so yes, you can use Exploits that require a melee weapon with your fists and feet. Come to think of it, the "conversion" notes for a Monk on...

I just did something I never though I would do

While I don't agree with this as a reason by itself to not get 4e, I do somewhat understand where (some) of those folks are coming from. Many are likely like me, in terms of purchasing habits. I don't buy most of the shlock WotC puts out. Especially adventures, which they are horrid at...

How does the GSL affect me?

That is entirely possible, and sadly, would not surprise me coming from Hasbro. The GSL affects me, because I could count on 3PP to put out fun, well written stuff for DnD, unlike WotC. 90% of the 3.X stuff I own is 3PP, NOT WotC. It was simply better written, when you went with the...

    Non PoL Setting Ideas?

Just curious if anyone is doing a setting in 4e, that is NOT necessarily PoL based. I have been tossing around a few ideas, summarized below (they are still "works in progress"), and am just curious if anyone else has been doing things outside the idea of a Point of Light. Tales of the Watch...

    Are the WOTC forums borked?

It has been rather problem filled lately, which (aside from WotC's history with making anything computer application related), does not fill me with hope about seeing DDI anytime soon. It is kinda funny though, to be reading posts and then suddenly you get database errors when you try to move...

    A Campaign Without a Metaplot?

While the Adventure Paths are GREAT, and I hope something good like them comes from a 3PP (I know WotC can not write good adventures), my own personal homebrew campaigns tend to be much more sandbox in style. I tend to come up with some general plot ideas, things that take place regardless of...

    Pre-Cast Rituals?

Interesting. And while I see where you are coming from, 4e seems like it is trying to get away from the "spells solve everything" issue. it IS a neat idea however. I don't think I would let them store more than one ritual at a time though, and would not make it a class skill. Probably a feat...

    D&D 4E 4e: First try at a Berserker/Barbarian type

Thanks, glad it looks good so far. Working on some more Rituals and brainstorming more Paragon Paths, but I'll check back on this post to see if others chime in with likes/dislikes/ideas. Thanks to everyone who has responded so far!

    D&D 4E 4e: First try at a Berserker/Barbarian type

True. Technically, you don't even need the "level 3+" prerequisite, but I tossed that in just to keep someone from "accidentally" tossing away their only Encounter power for a couple levels. Better to wait till they have 2 of them and can make a slightly better choice.

    D&D 4E 4e: First try at a Berserker/Barbarian type

I had thought to just leave it as an "open" power, and let a PC use retraining to get it, but by the RAW, you have to only retrain powers in your class. So a "substitution" feat seemed a good idea. I might end up coming up with more "non class" powers, and substitution feats seem a good way to...

    D&D 4E 4e: First try at a Berserker/Barbarian type

Hmm, true that. I am still willing to bet that once we have some splats out we see them again (this is just me not trusting WotC not to overpower the splats yet again). But that is not bad, and should cover most of the situations I can forsee. Also, made a small change to it. Based on some...

    D&D 4E 4e: First try at a Berserker/Barbarian type

I would say, temp stat boosts don't exist "yet". I almost guarantee they will. And, it is purposely designed as a Strength increase, not an increase in just attack and damage. It is designed to make feats of strength "easier" as well as do more damage. Edit: Made some slight changes, the...

    D&D 4E 4e: First try at a Berserker/Barbarian type

Ah, forgot about Fort defense. However, the skill increase I DO want. Mostly for things like the raging nutjob smashing his way through a door. :)

    D&D 4E 4e: First try at a Berserker/Barbarian type

This is something I came up with after talking to an old player who was wanting some kind of quasi barbarian/berserker type to play in 4e. While not a barbarian per, se, if you took the right skills as trained skills, it can come somewhat close. The set up is designed to be used with most any...

    D&D 4E Framework for 4e Druid

Wildshape has been with druids for quite some time, not just as a "3e thing". The frequency increased in 3e, and some of the more unusual shapings went up in 3e, but basic animals and elementals have been around MUCH longer. Animal Companions on the other hand are very much a 3e-ism. And not...

Channel Divinity Feats for Homebrew Pantheon

I have been planning something similar, and making more Channel Divinity feats for the core gods (as well as a feat to let a cleric/paladin use Channel Divinity more often in a combat). I would take the 3.X domains and work from there with the domain powers. It would give you some ideas at...

D&D 4E Completed 4e Druid (Updated 7/11, New Items; More Versatile)

Very nice, I am impressed! Quite a useful druid class, and something I think I will definitely use, until we see an "official" one and I decide which I like better. Since the one WotC makes is slated to be a hybrid as well (according to everything I have read), I am wondering how theirs will work!

Dragon article -- Class Acts: Wizards

It is not just you. While still not up to the bar set by Paizo when they were publishing it, it is getting much better of late, and seriously tempting me to give them money for the stand alone issues (I will not subscribe to DDI, but would consider giving them cash for the individual...

D&D 4E 4E Rules that are not covered... questions

Though this does bring up a small peeve I have with the books. WotC needs to learn to put in a decent index!! What is there is not bad, but it could be lots better, to make finding these kind of things easier!
