4th Edition and the Immortals Handbook

Hey hey U_K! So I recently got the Adventurer's Vault, which is filled with a lot of good stuff. The new weapons are awesome; the new masterwork armors are kind of "meh". A lot of magic items, of course, and while a bunch are already being declared "broken" in other message boards, I think I...

The Monk -- a Martial Controller

Monks seem like a good fit for the martial power source (who seem to be the stance-using ones). That works, until we see how the ki power source. See, while it does not explicitly say so, the 3 power sources so far have comnon traits. Strangely, I'm also working on a monk as a martial...

4th Edition and the Immortals Handbook

U_K! OMG! I just took a look at the Cloverfield Monster, and the mega-size immediately caught my attention. As you know, I've been trying to find a way to device a similarly sized monster, but so far I've been unsuccessful. Making them as traps, while it works, gives them this inorganic feel...

With the current retraining rules, I could see that working well... :)

4th Edition and the Immortals Handbook

U_K! Two (the party was 1st level while the "nuno" was a Gnome Arcanist+Warlock Template, solo'd with extra at-wills). The GrAb Grass Terrain really made the difference there. Low Str+Required Athletics check killed the gnome after it had used up all it's teleportation powers for the encounter.

4th Edition and the Immortals Handbook

Hey U_K! 1st off, I'm glad to hear that you're interested in Philippine Mythology. I'm a little busy right now (exams for my students, plus DMing two games while playing in one), but I'll give you an email about it when things calm down on my end. Now, back on topic: Yes and no. I haven't...

4th Edition and the Immortals Handbook

Hey again, U_K! In these parts (the good ol' Pearl of the Orient), we call it the Bakunawa. Wiki has some nice information tidbits about it, but you really have to dig into the theses in our University library if you want some good info. Since a dragon as a moon-swallower is rampant in many...

4th Edition and the Immortals Handbook

I've been toying with this idea as well. I'm trying to build the moon-swallower dragon of my country's mythology, and Gargantuan seemed to lame for it. Currently, my designs are to have him as a 34th-level "solo" obstacle that moves. I haven't playtested him yet, though, so I wouldn't know how...

4th Edition and the Immortals Handbook

Curses on me for not believing you immediately! I tried to find an equation to determine the amount of XP needed to gain level n, hoping at first that it could be expressed as a quadratic in n. Then I noticed that the pattern "jumps" every now and then, so now the obsessive compulsive...

4th Edition and the Immortals Handbook

Hey U_K! If I understand this corrently, we need double the previous level's QP to level up. May I ask why you decided on this? The required QP gain would grow exponentially, a curve that 4e, IMO, avoids like the plague. Since we'll get to 1000QP by 30th level, how about if you mirror XP gain...

4th Edition and the Immortals Handbook

Currently, 30th-34th is manageable, but the rest will take quite a bit of time. I think realism should take a step back in favor of enjoyability here. IMO, just encourage the DM to narrate the events from a deific sense of time (ie, there could be 100 years instead of 1 month in between...

4th Edition and the Immortals Handbook

Something along the lines of Ascension is a good starting book, IMO. As 4e monster creation rules have proven to be a piece of cake (to me, at least), one could just create his own mini-bestiary after U_K releases his rules. I for one look forward to it. I do hope that it is simpler than 3.5...

4th Edition and the Immortals Handbook

@Adslahnit: Whoah. That's a lot of stunning :p. I do agree with you; solos+ stunning=bad. That's why I'd rather they fight all of Thanatos than face Orcus immediately. @U_K: Regarding the pushing/pulling. something along the lines of dwarven stability (auto-save to ignore) would probably work...

4th Edition and the Immortals Handbook

Well, if we're running along that train of thought, then I would point out that there aren't supposed to be two Orcuses to begin with. Have them go through Glyphimhor, the Council of Riven Ram, endless undead hordes, covens of liches, Harthoon, Doresain, etc instead. Point is moot...

4th Edition and the Immortals Handbook

Hey U_K! I must say, I like what I see here. You could turn that demigod epic destiny into the quasi-diety, if you will. In any case, I'm really excited over the 4e Immortals' Handbook. I got into the IH series a bit too late (two months before 4e released!), and I want to put that into the...

    Immortals Handbook - Ascension Discussion

Cool. I'm conceptualizing a nymph demigoddess . :D When seriously threatened by a power she cannot defeat, she changes into a teenage girl. She then forgets who she is, and wanders around as an orphaned commoner. She becomes undetectable, recognizable only through her clerics (and even then...

    Immortals Handbook - Ascension Discussion

My apologies if this has been asked before, but how exactly does Vicissitude work? Does my goddess lose her divinity while in her alter-ego? What action does she need to alternate between the two? Thanks.

    A short Question

I've been browsing KotS a lot, and I noticed something; assuming dagger proficiency gives a +3 bonus for being accurate, then the halfling pregen's attack roll is at +5=+1(str)+3(prof)+1(rogue). My question is this: Do small creatures attack like everyone else (no +1 to hit) now? Thanks.
