Pathfinder 1E Paizo no longer publishing Dungeon and Dragon

Hoist a Glass I am emotional about this all out of proportion with its actual effect on my life. When I first became aware of RPGs as a child, Dragon was already around. Confused and curious in wide-eyed wonder at the rules of role-playing, I sat and let Dragon teach me. As I daydreamed about...

    Keen equivalent for bows?

I'm glad you and your DM agree. It's worth noting, however, that the keen ability isn't listed on the Ranged Weapon Special Abilities table, just as distance isn't listed on the Melee Weapons Specail Abilities table. Some abilities, such as flaming, are listed on both. Numerous people take...

    MIC: Ironward Diamond....Overpowered?

The rule on Mithral is not solely about the armor's limitations. If it was, then bards with Battle Caster wouldn't be able to cast in Mithral Full Plate, as their limitation is class- and feat-based, not a function of the armor. The crystal has a limitation. For purpose of limitations, mithral...

    Keen equivalent for bows?

Bastion Press had Arms & Armor, which gave the penetrating quality for piercing weapons, and was not restricted to melee weapons. It was keen, but for piercing rather than slashing. I am unaware of any WotC source that does the same.

Has anyone played the Wheel of Time

Well, yeah. That's one of the main reasons I've run a few games with it. first came playtesting, and then there were a lot of people who wanted me to run a game since I was "so familiar" with the rules. :-D All good points. The game is both greatly aided, and hindered, by efforts to stay close...

    MIC: Ironward Diamond....Overpowered?

Yep, that's me. :-D All the authors worked some on all the sections, and a lot of things got shuffled around in development (rings became crystals, shirts became cloaks, regalia because separate items). As a result it's difficult to exlain exactly what I worked on without given a long, boring...

    MIC: Ironward Diamond....Overpowered?

Note that while I was involved in the book, I had nothing to do with this particular item. I strongly suspect it's an answer to "What does a high-level fighter do?" builds. The DR 5/-- crystal is restricted to heavy armor. For the most part, it's only going to get used by fighters, paladins and...

Has anyone played the Wheel of Time

I've played it, from playtesting to games of my own. I've also ported various rules to other games. Here are my main experiences. A channeler can take over the party -- two or three can take over the game. You need to use enemy channellers, things designed to oppose chanelers, or the strong...

Cost to add +1 ability to Specific Weapon

I abslutely cannot speak to what the rules actually say any better than the two sides have already done. I know what I would do in my own campaigns, if I were faced with a playing wishing to upgrade the Crystal echoblade. I'd decide the "echoing" part cost the same as the last bonus, rather...

Cost to add +1 ability to Specific Weapon

It says much the same thing in the 3.5 DMG, on page 288, under "Adding New Abilities."

    Pricing a magic rod

Wow. Okay, as a base, let's look at rods that have each of those as at-will abilities. For command word abilities, it's spell level x caster level x 1,800. Staves have a minimum caster level of 8th, so we can assume using that minimum gives us the "at caster's level" effect. So the raw costs...

[Star Wars] Saga Edition's New Damage System

No matter what we do, we can't playtest a game as thoroughly as it is by fans within a month of being released. Gary is the question-guy for Star Wars. His article represents not just his opinion but his explanation on why this change was made, which is based in part on feedback he's gotten from...

    Peter Archer

I know Peter was in charge of TSR's and then WotC's book publishing divisions. I believe he is now a freelance writer. http://ww2.wizards.com/Books/Wizards/?doc=dl_archer2007interview

    Star wars SAGA cover?

I think this project has had the most comprehensive development process I have ever been a part of. I, at least, think it's a much better book for it.

    101 Unusual Encounters

A famous one from my old gaming group. 311. The room is clearly a great hall, sixty feet long, long fallen from its original glory. Well crafted stone pillars support the ceiling, with signs that gold leaf had once adorned them but has been stripped off ages ago. A few scorched circles and...

White Wolf can take their Web Extras & Shove it!

There's a lot of interesting information here, for industry folks and fans alike. The Extra Web Material for this book costs more money. I haven't bought the book yet, so that's a nice thing for me to know. I probably still will, since I like the rpg it's a suppliment for, but I doubt I'll buy...

    d10 for Initiative

It makes things less random. Since the PCs normally are going to win unless something extreme happens, reduced ranodmness tilts things further in their favor. However, it's a small tilt in this case, and I have done it. I'm also running a game right now where Improved Initiative simply lets you...

Arcane / Divine parallel progression for more than 10 levels?

I actually made it a 3 level class, then used the same progression for epic MTs.

Arcane / Divine parallel progression for more than 10 levels?

I've run into this question as a GM, though the character in question never actually hit MT 10+. Even so, I cam up with a solution both the player and I were happy with. It was essentially an almost-epic PrC that took MT up to epic (and would also be used for epic progression, rather than the...
