How Do You Feel About NPC Party Members (A Poll)

I have a GMPC, because it is the only way that we can have enough PCs. Only one of my players is at the point where she can take on two PCs. The other tried, but he didn't do too well at it. Even then, we sometimes have to drag my husband in if we are getting slaughtered.

How many sessions did you game this year?

During the summer and Christmas Break, once a week. The rest of the year, 1-2 times a month. Two times a month seems to be our happier spot as far as storyline goes, but scheduling is frequently an issue, so we make up for it during the times of the year that we can. Everybody lives in the same...

D&D General What Kind Of Setting Does Your Group Use?

Yep. My kids know nothing about the Forgotten Realms, so I can mix all the timeframes together and nobody will know!

I feel you on this one.

    2021 RPG and Gaming Resolutions?

Spend at least 15 minutes prepping a day, at least three times a week. Thanks to work and school, we frequently go several weeks between sessions, which makes it easy to not feel pressured to prep . . . and then Game Day hits. I would also like to be a player, but in my small town that is...

D&D 5E (2014) Does “Whack-A-Mole” Healing really happen in games?

Even if you don't have an issue with healing, this sounds like fun. My problem is that I would forget to change it. Lol!

D&D General How Was Your Last Session?

It was a fairly quick session today. Last time, we had tied up Sir Egan in order to haul him in front of Ontharr Frume. That was done today and then everybody chose factions. Most people chose Harper, but one of the drow chose to join the Order of the Gauntlet. Also, when they consented to...

D&D General How Was Your Last Session?

We just arrived in Elturel and my players decided on some downtime before continuing the main mission. (I had already decided that I wasn't sticking to the imposed urgency of the text anyway.) My newest player learned how downtime worked, so that took a bit of doing, but the biggest fun turned...

D&D General Collaboration With Your Players?

I put rarely, because I don't build from scratch. I use a published adventure. However, my players have a lot of say in what the next adventure will be.

D&D 5E (2014) Dungeons & Dragons Holiday Gifts and Wishes

We're getting all the kids new dice sets in their stockings. And I bought a couple of books just for me.

D&D 5E (2014) Help me build an epic final battle with Tiamat!

Thanks for this. I was planning on using Scales of War to finish everything off, but I hadn't found the conversion for it.

D&D 5E (2014) Help me build an epic final battle with Tiamat!

Following, since this is how I am hoping to end my Dragon Horde campaign as well.

D&D General How many Races it too much?

That's one reason why I wouldn't let anybody choose Dragonborn in my current campaign. They are the enemy.

D&D General How many Races it too much?

All races are allowed, but I usually limit player choice, especially at the beginning of the campaign and if they are inexperienced players.

    D&D 5E (2014) Running 5E for two players?

My daughter just flat out told me, "Unless I say otherwise, I'm only talking as Del." Makes it easier, even if I encourage her to flesh out both characters.

    D&D 5E (2014) Running 5E for two players?

This happens frequently in my game, since I mainly run for my kids and my husband is unreliable and reluctant at best -- not his type of game. I do run a player myself, but what I also do is have at least one of the players run two characters. If one of those characters dies and they want to...

D&D 5E (2014) How often do characters die in your campaigns?

Players frequently die in my campaigns. We also TPK a fair amount. When a character dies, but at least one party member lives, a new character is rolled and we figure out a way to introduce them. If we have a TPK, we do an auto-reset before the battle that killed us.

D&D General Do you track material components?

We do if it is either something that is bought or something that is hard to come by. If it is just some ash that was scooped up at the campfire, not so much.
