Five Big Takeaways from the 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide

It can, but again, it doesn't have to. We're also close to getting into the definition of 'Setting' Would you call a single city a setting?

Five Big Takeaways from the 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide

Me too, worldbuilding is a big part of the appeal for me. But I still think you can just play adventure after adventure without a setting. This was certainly my experience back in the late 80's early 90's.

Payn's Ponderings; System mastery and the concept of fair fight.

So, you liked Lost Mines more than Stormwreck Isle? When we played through them, my DM had mixed the two together, so I couldn't tell you what was from what. Is there any other starter set for 5E? I guess there were the ones for Stranger Things and Rick and Morty, but I never really counted them.

Five Big Takeaways from the 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide

I wasn't talking about preferences. My response was to the idea that without a campaign world, there can't be a game. Which is IMO kinda nonsense.

Five Big Takeaways from the 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide

exactly, you can also just play an adventure module, dungeon crawl, etc... plenty of ways to play without the need for a setting

Payn's Ponderings; System mastery and the concept of fair fight.

I'm pretty sure the 5E starter set 'Lost Mines...' has an encounter with a Young Green Dragon that players can run into around level 2 or 3.

Personally I've found Peele has gotten better with each film, (I know I'm in the minority on that one) 'Us' to me felt the most like an episode of Twilight Zone, but to me that's not really a criticism.

    Spoilers Agatha All Along discussion

True, I guess 'confirmed' would have been a better way to describe it. I doubt Agatha has much trust when it comes to other witches telling her things.

D&D General How Was Your Last Session?

We've converted our OSE Dolmenwood campaign into 5E, and are now playing through Wild beyond the Witchlight. Last session we arrived at the introductory carnival and spent the session playing 'side-show alley' games. It was a lot of fun.

    Spoilers Agatha All Along discussion

I saw someone theorize that Agatha figured out Teen wasn't her son during the Seance, when he reads out 'Nicholas Scratch' on the Ouija Board. He wouldn't have been able to say that due to the Sigil.

    Spoilers Agatha All Along discussion

Agatha is stalling because she’s nervous to be put on trial and ‘punished’. Felt in character to me, and yeah, I also think she’s meant to be a little unhinged. Immediately after she’s finished her Mrs Hart impression someone points out that the clock is ticking.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Reviews

The book finally hit the shelves down under, so I managed to grab a copy. I spent a fair amount of yesterday flipping through it, not much I can say about it that hasn’t already been covered, but I’m enjoying what I’ve seen so far.

D&D Movie/TV DADHAT becomes Netflix Global Hit

Getting a little off topic, but My local cinema ran a screening of all 3 extended LotR's movies back to back a few weekends ago. 12 hours worth! Just as an example of what some cinemas are doing to stay relevant...

That's good. I have memberships with a couple of different chains that will give you a $1 for every 4 films, as well as other discounts. I've never been a fan of popcorn, but I know the food and drink prices can be pretty outrageous.

D&D Movie/TV DADHAT becomes Netflix Global Hit

I still love the going to the movies. I will see something most weekends. Watching films at home just doesn't compare for me. That said, people that go to the indie/arthouse cinemas in Sydney are well behaved. No one talks or uses their phone, etc... oh, except for during Megalopolis where this...
