It depends on your weight, gender, muscle mass, and other factors. It's a complicated formula, so most sites just simplify it. Weight is a primary factor though, so don't trust anything that doesn't take that into account.
I used to be like that when I was a teenager. Now that I'm 22, even though I'm still growing, my metabolism has seriously slowed down. As a result, I've creeped up from 180 to 200 over the past year.
You don't want to lose more than one or two lbs per week because it can kick your body into...
I've started a health and fitness class over the summer in an effort to get in shape (and a required credit). I'm taking a dual approach, increasing my calorie expenditure by hitting the gym and decreasing my intake by...well, primarily by not having the money to afford food. :p
Our teacher...
That was a bit unneccessary, but I do see your point.
I thought I had moved on. My rampage earlier this morning proved me wrong on that. I've since managed to calm down and am on my way to the gym to literally work out some of my remaining frustrations.
More than anything else, I wish she had...
A few years back I was seriously considering joining the army. I didn't see any real future in the path I was going on, so I decided that after the semester was over I'd enlist. Before that happened, however, I met a girl. We started to get serious. Although we are both still virgins, it was my...
I've never had a hurricane in-game, but I do have it on my summer weather table for Sharn.
I think the rules are all there: Torrential rains, floods, and hurricane-force winds (with the occasional tornado-force gusts) could do some serious damage. I also think something of that much power would...
There are rules for what fireballs do underwater. You have to make a spellcraft roll = 20+spell level, or the spell is lost. If it works, then it produces a burst of steam instead.
Just got my Dungeon #125, and was reading through the "Three Faces of Evil" adventure, focusing on how to convert it to Eberron (since I run my game there). I happened upon a problem in the process: Cleric domains.
In the notes for #124, they suggested that in Eberron the Three Faces of EVil...
Tomb of horrors, maybe?
And yup, your ruling was right. Even if he was reduced to one HP per HD, he's already lost 18/24. His max was reduced to 8 hp, which is still more than the theoretical 4 minimum. Then he'd lost 18/8, reducing him to -10 and death.
I look at it like this: He was already...
Everyone seems to be suggesting a touch attack, but my problem with a touch attack is the following things aren't accounted for in a touch attack:
Armor (the needle penetrates platemail?!)
Shield (goes through a tower shield?!)
Natural armor (it works on a crocodile?)
Grapple and pin is a...
In the Dungeon magazine adventure "The Whispering Cairn" there is a villain named Filge who uses syringes as a delivery system for potions. I asked for help on the systems on the Paizo boards, but...umm...yeah. I don't think I'll be going there for advice again anytime soon. :\
Anyway, my idea...
I run Eberron, so it's hard to say what is an anachronism since it's an entirely different technological development. I do have some nonstandard things:
Canned goods
Central heating/cooling
X-ray machines (and other diagnostic equipment)
Artificial limbs
Cameras
Trenchcoats
Roulette
More precisely, "Jumping the shark" is not when the show begins to decline, but when the decline becomes utterly irreversible. For instance, with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, it began its decline when she graduated from high school. It jumped the shark when it shifted to UPN. Angel began its...
The only problem I have with them is they're confusing. For instance, bet you didn't know you automatically do unarmed damage on successfully initiating a grapple? It's true!
Anyway, I use them as is. I've had success with them when they're used the way they're meant to be:
Grappling a giant =...
When 3.5 first came out, I was all in favor. I had already begun to see the seams in 3.0 despite having played it for only a year. Now that we've had 3.5 for a while, I've seen a constant steady improvement...and it bothers me.
Just a small list of the brilliant ideas that have continued to...
