DDM Set 14: Desert of Desolation

I remember a Gorgon (because it killed a PC), lots of minotaurs (from the maze), and pineapple grenades. But that was the early 90's so a lot of it is in a haze. I would love to see a special mini for the Efreeti Pasha.

Magic Item Compendium: The Diablo II gems have made their way to D&D!

Actually, I meant the items from previous books, like the Complete Series, Libris Mortis, Lords of Madness, even the SRD. I would like to be able to go to one book when it comes time to give out the loot.

Magic Item Compendium: The Diablo II gems have made their way to D&D!

Isn't this book supposed to have all the magic items from the supplements previous to it? Or is it just another book of magic items? (I would buy the former, but not the latter)

    Replacement PCs: what level?

Same level as everyone else. I don't penalize a level for Raise Dead/Resurrection either. Level loss makes for imbalance in the group and punishment where its not needed. The death and costs of resurrection are punishment enough, no need to insult them with a level loss as well.

Magic Item Compendium: The Diablo II gems have made their way to D&D!

Great idea... Two sessions ago I gave two items that eerily remind me of these crystals...they were one shot enhancement items for weapons, course these were permanent enchantments. Stone of Sharpening: Adds Keen enchantment to +1 weapon Blood of the Wraith: Adds Ghost Touch enchantment to +1...

    How do LG characters intimidate

This was popular in the 90's "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and...

    Do you miss the piercer?

Our party in 2e carried one around as a pet and camp guard. We got it after it dropped on us and missed. They are so cute and helpless on the ground :) Mr. Pointy the Piercer.

How have you made giants more interesting?

I modified some hill giants into Jungle Giants for an upcoming session taking place in the Jungles of Xendrik. Mainly moved skills and feats and added a level of Ranger. Now they are somewhat stealthy (quiet anyway) and have survival skills. Use longspears instead of clubs. Considering...

    Hit Points and D&D

Durn...I liked my anecdote. I guess I was just saying that being dead is not fun, unless you had fun getting there. More to the topic, why bother with the intricate stats in DnD if a pc can be dropped by a random arrow? Why not just move to a much more simplistic system? Why bother with...

    Using races differently from stereotypes

I've always wanted to run a campaign that included the insectile elves that were featured in Savage Species. Something about the idea and picture always appealed to me.

    Hit Points and D&D

This discussion reminds me of my first and only experience with Rolemaster. I spent two hours making a highly complex character (ruleswise and backstory) and in the very first combat roll, a goblin killed the character with a critical. I thanked the GM for the sodas and his time, and headed...

A question about Paladins and killing.

I agree with Frank. There's a difference between good roleplaying opportunities and a DM just laying "moral" traps to cause a paladin to fall.

A question about Paladins and killing.

New at 11... 10 acolytes slaughtered at St Peter's Church of the Merciful, when three baby trolls decided to devour them due to hunger. Intial reports say that the acolytes were attempting to redeem the trolls' souls when devoured. We interviewed a local expert on trolls, Rick the Ranger, and...

    Funniest DM/player faux pas

Glad you liked it Olaf :) I think our game is 80% comedy and 20% actual play, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

    Psion! Help! River of Worlds

The idea that struck me is that they could start out working for one of the evil overlords in thier schemes, as they gained power, they could move towards freelancing among the overlords, with an eventual goal of gaining enough power to break down the gates to the good realms. You could have...
