    Battle: Los Angeles

The one thing I noticed at the end is that it got applause from the audience. I don't see that very often. It was a pretty packed theatre, so it was interesting to hear that. So, high art, it wasn't. A fun movie, I thought so. My wife thought it was far too violent, but the rest of our...

    Battle: Los Angeles

I guess my tastes have changed...I used to love ID4....however, it's just a little campy, and I like more grit than I used to. I *will* admit that the scenes of large aireal battles between F/A-18 squadrons and alien fighters were pretty cool. Because Battle: LA takes place from the POV of a...

    Battle: Los Angeles

I saw it last night and it was pretty decent. I wasn't watching it for acting, but the acting could have been worse. Definitely worth watching. In some ways Battle: LA is what Independence Day should has been, and is a far superior movie (IMO). Banshee

Carrion Crown Player's guide available for download!

Ok, just read the description of the adventure path. Am I missing something? An adventure where the PCs are tracking a serial killer who only kills vampires? As in, the PCs are trying to hunt down Van Helsing? Why would they do that? Is this an "evil" adventure path or something...

Song of Ice and Fire - Official Book 5 Pub Date!

It is kind of a silly viewpoint. Regardless of delays, the books are excellent, and far superior than most of what we have available in terms of fantasy. And really, none of us is guaranteed any time on this earth. I'd rather not postpone something I'd really like because the series isn't...

Song of Ice and Fire - Official Book 5 Pub Date!

It'll be an expensive, niche TV show. And, given we haven't seen an episode yet, we have no idea if it'll be good enough to last all those seasons. So this is a hypothetical pressure on him. If the show lasts 2 seasons and then gets canceled, there's not much pressure on him. I hope this is...

    Camelot

I didn't even know this was being made....cool! And CBC's involved in the production, which is rather neat. Some big name actors in there. What channel does it play on in Canada? Banshee

    4 Hours w/ RSD: Who Am I?

Likely because nobody has either paid to develop them, or has spent the time to develop them. I've asked some developers I know about costs to develop iPad apps, and it generally doesn't seem *too* expensive......but you'd still have to sell a fair number of them through the app store to turn a...

    Oathbound is back!

Likely $140 is simply because of low print volumes. Still, one heck of a lot of money for a game book. Banshee

    Oathbound is back!

OK, this sounds cool....$10 for an almost 500 page compilation of the Oathbound setting books? Any idea on whether they've unified the race data? One thing I found annoying is there based on customer feedback or whatever, there were like 4 different sets of stats for the different...

    Eladrin, Tieflings, and Dragonborns

To me, the Eladrin of 4E are pretty much the Feorin and Faeries of Bastion Press' "Faeries" in 3E. I figure when I run Pathfinder, I'll just convert them. Banshee

Ultimate Combat Playtest: Gunslinger, Ninja, Samurai

Apparently I don't have any "good" sources on ninjas. The books I've read seemed to indicate that they did wear camo which might be black at night, or white in the snow, or whatever....but it was only for specific assignments, and in many cases, they were "invisible" by looking like the regular...

Ultimate Combat Playtest: Gunslinger, Ninja, Samurai

That's pretty much what I thought. You can't get feedback and improve it, without putting *something* down on paper, and identifying what people like/don't like about it. Hopefully you can do make the changes needed to try and find the sweet spot. If it's any use, I think you can still do...

    Vader-wagen

I figured someone must have already posted it but I just didn't see the topic. I find since EN World collapsed several topics together to make this one I have more difficulty finding specific topics. Oh well, I suspected someone would post that I'm late to the party and this thing's been out...

Ultimate Combat Playtest: Gunslinger, Ninja, Samurai

With respect to the thread topic..... It would be good if the ninja had a few more non-magical type abilities. Evasion......maybe Improved Unarmed Strike....and some kind of bonus to AC when not wearing armor. I haven't really read many accounts of ninja running around in armor, and all the...

This link was passed to me today....I figure, given the content, most have seen it already, but if they haven't... YouTube - Volkswagen Commercial: The Force Funny little commercial playing off Star Wars :) Banshee

Ultimate Combat Playtest: Gunslinger, Ninja, Samurai

But nowhere in what you quoted did I make the statement that a round in 3E accounts for a bunch of attacks. As I stated......in a minute in a fencing match, you could easily have 10-20 attacks each....or more. 10 rounds a 1 minute. Thus, *minimum* of 1-2 attacks per 6 seconds. You sure the...

Ultimate Combat Playtest: Gunslinger, Ninja, Samurai

Why do you say that? I haven't assumed that at all. If you break it down, this was more inherently true in 2nd Ed. than it was in 3E, because the standard round was 60 seconds, as opposed to 6 seconds. Back in 2nd Ed., a fighter might have 2 attacks a round....maybe 3, if they are fighting...

Ultimate Combat Playtest: Gunslinger, Ninja, Samurai

Maybe somewhere in the middle? I'm sure there's a huge difference between shooting an arrow to arc into the sky, and fall into a mass of hundreds of soldiers. Statistically, it has a good chance to hit *somebody*. It would likely take longer to shoot at a single person moving across a...

Ultimate Combat Playtest: Gunslinger, Ninja, Samurai

The only thing I'll say is that the reload times are only ridiculous if you haven't tried actually fencing before. I can admit I haven't tried firing or reloading a musket or pistol.....so I have no idea how much time it takes....but everything I've read seems to indicate you're looking at...
