Wind Walk is killing my campaign!

To answer your question, since I play in the Forgotten Realms, I've got the whole world at my fingertips. I just open the book and start describing where they are. I keep a handful of the mini-encounters from WOTC and other websites to plug in where appropriate.

Wind Walk is killing my campaign!

Too old and anal for that, sadly. I don't sleep well if I don't feel like I'm prepared. Thinking about trying Castles and Crusades, just to see if it lightens the load a little.

Wind Walk is killing my campaign!

I'm thinking very seriously about this. I miss those days when one mistake wasn't likely to take a PC down to -27 hp in one shot, which happened last week. The cleric blew his climb check while trying to get into flanking position on a frost giant with the fighter. *WHUMP* "You look up to...

Wind Walk is killing my campaign!

:) Good way of putting it. That's pretty much what they've used it for, although it was also used to approach/ruin an encounter. All in an afternoon. They're 11th level, btw, but yes, they are drawing 'attention' of Darkhold. In fact, they've severely p*ssed them off more than once. The...

Wind Walk is killing my campaign!

That could be funny, at least once. I'll remember that, thanks.

Wind Walk is killing my campaign!

The mage had ended his last turn by moving to the edge of the tower. The PC's had no idea he was going to jump, they were just trying to keep him from casting a spell on him. John Elway had his turn right before the mage and threw a touchdown (19 on his throw). :) The whole image of this...

Wind Walk is killing my campaign!

I'm just whining about how much work it is for me - now I have to be able to quickly find 'the magic shop owner in Hill's Edge' when they were 500 miles away just a few minutes ago. Disorganization and laziness on my part, mostly.

Wind Walk is killing my campaign!

Good idea and I've tried something like this. Some Dimension Door-ing demons and one bad guy that teleported away. I've compounded my problem by giving them a homemade magic item - a softball-sized stone that carries a Silence spell with it. I had an evil wizard that was going to...

Wind Walk is killing my campaign!

Maybe that's a little overstated, but it's killing me as DM. Anybody got a variant that's a little more...manageable? I used to only have to prepare for a few locations for a session, now they can be virtually anywhere, and can scout out places virtually unseen. Way too much work for me. I...

    A Tale of Two Dragons

OOC - Sorry to say, but I'll probably do that a lot. I play a wizard named Moe in another game of this type. It's hell being old.

    A Tale of Two Dragons

(OOC): If possible - Moe continues to stride to the bridge. As he approaches, he casts a Web spell on the two boys, attempting to bind them to the overpass itself. "That should hold them", he thinks to himself.

    A Tale of Two Dragons

Jogging toward the bridge, Nick mumbles a few arcane syllables and hurls a Flare spell to the limit of his range, attempting to both startle and illuminate the figures on the bridge.

    Humbling defeats

Not sure if we're talking about the same thing, but WOTC had a house-shaped mimic on stilts in one of their mini-adventures. I even cut out one of their folding shacks just for realism. And who climbed the rope ladder, all by himself? The wizard, of course :D Rolled him up like a frog does...

    A Tale of Two Dragons

"Nicholas DeLozier, at your service, good sir," the mage replied, with an exaggerated bow. He holds out a finger toward the little owl, which climbs upon it. "And this is my trusty companion, Mousebane." The bird makes a tiny hoot, and the human stroked its head affectionately. “And you...

    FR Calendar Tool

Word of advice: Don't download this at work, then try to email it (in this case, to my home email account). Corporate virus detectors don't like .js files, even in .zip's

    A Tale of Two Dragons

Nick soundlessly shouldered his backpack, nodded in the direction of the old woman, and started toward the exit. That was...interesting, he thought. But I suppose I should play along for now.

    Coolest. Gaming Set-up. Evar.

Yeah, it's free, essentially. The guy just bought a new house and a new big-screen TV, so he really doesn't have a place to use the projector any more. I'll give it a shot (probably have to go the mirror route - the ceiling in the basement is not very high, and the table is. The lighting...

A Tale of Two Dragons (OOC)

I just wanted everybody to know, since they don't know me, that Nick's actions are just him, not me. I'm not (and he's not) a pain in the a** normally.

    A Tale of Two Dragons

"Your words are persuasive, great wyrm, and I mean that with all respect." Nick said, with a slight bow towards the dragon. "Understand, though, that I bear the scars of a previous venture such as this; one to neighboring Chessenta, in fact. I have seen a righteous mission similar to what you...
