Living Greyhawk worked on a regional basis. There was not that much to learn for an individual group. Your playground was pretty much given by where you lived and, naturally, very limited. In FR terms this would mean that you would have to learn something about Amn. Forget about the rest. And...

As we will get a new PHB every year, some scissors and glue should do the trick.

I'm pretty sure that, after 3 or 4 years, everything known and much yet unknown to man will have found its way (back) into 4e, and as it is now, you will have more options than you will ever be able to use.

My main point was "wasteland overrun by outsiders", like, you march out of the city gate and are ambushed by a group of devils. Wilderness is fine. But I don't like settings that are mostly in the hand of evil outsiders. Points of Light as "beacons of civilization in a vast dangerous, hardly...

In principle, I agree. As long as the FR don't end up being something like a wasteland overrun by demons (like, to explain where all those tieflings suddenly come from), I'm okay with it. If the FR become a playground for outsiders, I'm out.

I went with the fourth option. He has done some good pieces, but generally, I dislike his works. They tend to sport exaggerated poses, many faces look horrible, and I don't like his color palette.
