Monte's 3.75? (A sequal is on its way)

It's just now that I looked into this thread because I suspected that it was one of these threads begging Monte to publish his houserules. So they will actually be published! Cool! I have a great respect for Monte's books, and AU/AE and the Complete Book of Eldritch Might are some of my...

    Races of YOUR World

I just use some well known names instead of the campaign ones in order to make it easier for me to explain: Humans: The natural choice for players. There's enough diversity to make a difference as far as background goes. Mojh: The natural choice for human sorcerers who want to prolong their...

    Best fantasy world creation supplement

I guess I'm not the right target for books like this, but I always ask myself "Who doesn't know this stuff?" when I look at titles like that one. I have it (it came as a freebie with some other stuff), but didn't find it useful. Here I wholeheartedly agree. A very useful book. Just looking...

Help me pick out a setting book to purchase

Which the OP already owns, as some of the other suggested products further above ;). I guess the question is a bit difficult, because there's not much left, given the list in the first post. But I would also suggest a closer look at Scarred Lands, because I think they deserve it. You must not...

    3e/d20 Fantasy Setting books

Murchad's Legacy (Parent's Basement Games, 2005) I think the author still has a copy at home, but it should not be forgotten :).

The Best & Worst of 3rd Edition: SINGLE BEST Product of 3rd edition (poll closed)

Don't worry too much. All that linking won't help with most of the other products. Popular campaign settings like Eberron or Ptolus are emotional affairs that elicit fond memories in DM's and players alike, even more so when the memories are very fresh, as in these cases. The Pathfinder modules...

    Do you buy D&D Minis?

I voted "never", although i own a few from the basic game. I use counters.

How much money have you spent on 3.x?

I have no idea how much I spent, and I won't calculate it, but it's definitely a few times as much as $1000. The stuff I bought does influence my interest in 4e, but not because of the money - that's spent ;) - but because of all the ideas I haven't realized yet. My mind is still occupied with...

The Best & Worst of 3rd Edition: SINGLE BEST Product of 3rd edition (poll closed)

I think you grossly overestimate the traffic on Monte's board. This announcement there won't have much of an effect. That said, I voted for the Complete Book of Eldritch Might. Looking at the poll, I seem to have an esoteric taste ;). Anyway, it's one of the earliest books in this poll, and the...

Today My Bookcase Collapsed Under the Weight of My RPGs

That was the last publication for "Blue Planet" :D.

Today My Bookcase Collapsed Under the Weight of My RPGs

Yes, those are very good IKEA shelves. I have a small one here: As you can see, the individual shelf spans are very short, and the shelves are supported by vertical boards. Very sturdy.

The Best & Worst of 3rd Edition: R2:Best 3rd party (poll #6: You Can Still VOTE)

There are quite a few other books that I think deserve a spot on that list, but then again, I did not nominate anything ;). Anyway, it's a nice collection. And there's only one book that I never heard of.

    Are Gognards killing D&D?

It had a few monsters in it, but not many. It assumed access to the SRD and made suggestions on how to use those monsters from there.

    Are Gognards killing D&D?

I haven't read the whole thread, but did the words "Soylent Green" already fall ;)? And no, I don't think anyone destroys D&D. And even if 4e won't be a success - and i think it will succeed - there will still be the grognards playing the game. Whatever version.

    What would Gary do?

I don't think you are right with this assumption. If I look at Lejendary Adventures, this shows me that he went into a completely different direction. Not my cup of tea, but no "old school" nostalgia, either.

    Social Mobility in a Game

I allow social mobility. One reason is that I do not think that, in a society with powerful magic, the European concept of a divine bloodline in nobles works, except when they are really personally powerful. Something like the Chinese concept that success means divine favor and failure means...

Arcana Evolved. Funny that none of the games in the forum description made the poll list ;).

Playing D&D with only the PHB

Yes, it was called the "2000 Survival Kit". The magic item section was quite extensive, even if condensed. You also had treasure tables, traps, tips on dungeon design, etc.

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo vs Amazon.com

I wouldn't complain if it was some kind of isolated experience. With non-WotC RPG books, it's more or less the norm that the "in stock" message has absolutely no meaning. I had numerous Goodman Games or Necromancer orders that all took several months, despite all items having been marked as "in...
