Scarred Lands: Ask the Sage [New and Improved!]

Hey Zelda, my campaign is based around the attempted resurrection of Gulaben. The Story Hour is slow-going, but if you were interested I could send you some of the salient details. Nightfall, looking for a suggestion. I have a Monk/Sorceror in the group, one of the newer players. I've got the...

NC Game Day - Important new info!

    That's cool, Mark. Thanks!

    I finally watched Underworld

I enjoyed the movie and picked up the DVD for my roommate last week. One part I did want to chuckle about: Raze, the african-american Lycan. His voice was the worst thing ever. I was convinced that they dubbed it over to achieve some effect and failed miserably. Then I watched the DVD extras...

    Confrontation?

Yeah, they're really nice and detailed. I got a few from Brookhurst Hobbies - two templars and a female necromancer, and they look terrific. I wish I could do one of the cool paint jobs like I've seen online, but for now they'll do just fine.

[psionics handbook] What does an Astral Construct look like?

In one of my games a few years back, the Astral Construct an NPC used was 'vaguely panther-like in shape, formed of an amber energy veined with shifting streaks of silver'. I tend to think that the forms reflect the creator, as they are mental constructs. You know the adage how pets reflect...

    Iron NPC -- 2004 -- Relocated!

Ah, the temptation. But I see how I was late or nearly-late for my entries last time... Maybe I'll just divert the crazy energy to my Story Hour instead. Glad to see its return, Nifft.

    Pacing campaigns, and television seasons

I love these types of threads, RangerWickett. Just so you know. =) I don't run my campaigns in defined 'seasons' like some of you. But I have drawn from some television philosophy that I appreciate. J. Michael Stracynski had a five-year plan for Babylon 5. He had a definitive beginning and...

Challenging my high-lvl group (NPCs and monsters; my players shouldn't read this!)

Hi PirateCat. Wondering if you'd care to post the stats on the Brain Golem? I've got some info from when somebody posted one on EN World a year ago. Wondering if its the same critter and how advanced it is.

[White Wolf, and own-horn-tooting] Their end, my beginning

Congratulations, Mouseferatu! I hate that your first novel goes with material that breaks my heart (not thrilled about the Gehenna prospect), but I know it will be just as good as all your other material I rave about. If I know my roommate, there is sure to be a copy purchased and in the house.

    Scarred Lands: Ask the Sage

Hey Nightfall, have we seen a list of the PrCs from Players Guide to Monks & Paladins yet? I'm curious because I'm in the market for an alternate paladin/holy warrior for Hedrada. Wanted to see if there were any classes that sound appropriate in there. Has Carriker hooked you up? =)

[Green Ronin] Looking Ahead at 2004

Excellent! And here I was just doing a search for Archangel Studios and Christian to see if there were any more works for me to snatch up. =) Count me as another sale, Chris.

(Adventure) A Tidy Profit... [Judge: Uriel]

Kristoff looked at the two men beside him with a dispassionate glance. He hoped they had extra coin to throw around to the harbormaster. They were taking the job on the presumption that there was something of worth in Masthead’s ship. Kristoff was a wanderer, never one to keep a large sum with...

The Scars Run Deep (Updated - 3/29/2004)

13th of Chardot, yr. 150 A.V., continued Gerad and Liam dragged Blackwater’s limp form from the stables into the wine fields. Gerad spotted workers in the fields that nodded their heads at his passing. Luckily Blackwater’s body was obscured by the rows of vines. They eventually stopped at a...

    Kill Your Pretties (NPCs)

Yeah. After reading some of the posts (thanks everyone!), this will probably be Doran's last gasp. He redeemed himself, the crucial part of his story is done. The cohorts, they are gravely wounded. I know the healers are running up and may be able to save one or two of them. I can milk it for...

    Kill Your Pretties (NPCs)

My Players probably want to stay away from this thread. There’s a term in writing called ‘Kill Your Pretties’. It’s when you have characters that you love and enjoy so much that you find yourself afraid to inflict anything drastic upon them, including death. I’m leery of encountering this in...

    Tyrzra'eln---The World's Garden

Rathan grimaced, breathing in the smell of smoke and blood on the wind. He had intended to show off his skills and make a few contacts at Seafarer's Rest, but now that seemed out of the question. He looked at the Sibbecai that was first to volunteer his services. It could probably hold its own...

How to motivate players to play?

I've found the the DM can galvanize a gaming group in most cases. When the person running the game is enthusiastic, I pick up on the vibe and am ready to play. When the game is just 'something to do', then I tend to lose heart.

    SHARK To Be Published!

Glad to see that you were able to recover from the setback, SHARK. I'll definitely be looking for the material when it is released.
