Player just doing the same thing problem- please help.

You could also tell the other players to simply ignore any potential threats that might wanna come the ranger's way, and let him handle them. One of the ideas of healing surges is that everyone should ideally spend the same (relative) amount of them over several encounters, so your defenders...

    D&D 4E 4E Character Sheet (PDF, B&W, 2 pages, portrait)

Well, while I suppose I could expand the Weapons & Attacks area, it would be a fair bit of hassle to accommodate the extra space requirement, so for now it'll have to stay like this. Unless of course the need for more space should become pronounced, which so far it hasn't for my group's sessions...

    Half-elves and +2 CON

They have big, fat tails. 'Nuff said.

    Encoutner vs. Daily Powers

Yeah, 4E is geared for several encounters in a session, and aims to get you more bang for your buck, so to speak. The milestone mechanic is there to encourage multiple encounters, and the whole concept if encounter powers does that quite assertively as well. If you're looking to have only one...

D&D 4E Crafting... can anyone make anything in 4E?

Crafting rules and such are basically handled purely through roleplaying in 4E. Its up to the DM to decide what you can and can't do, and that's perfectly fine.

    Rangers and dual throwing weapons

In case anyone was still wondering, customer support says you can dual-throw stuff, as any normal ranged attack would be used of course.

Stats that don't have + Stat mod

Well, I would treat anything without a variable effect, aka a dice roll, as static. If you don't, you get certain oddities, such as a Cleave doing up to 9 damage to the cleaved target at first level (the extreme being a 20 Str, Power attack and Weapon Focus), which just shouldn't happen...

Stats that don't have + Stat mod

Its a balance concern, since the damage adjacent targets take is often significantly lower than primary damage, although some similar effects do require attack rolls against adjacent enemies as well (such as from Acid Arrow). Since you roll an attack roll for each enemy, you only get max damage...

Stats that don't have + Stat mod

No problem. :) You have to look at it how they did, in order for it to make sense though; - you only roll damage one time, for any given attack - a critical hit maximizes all damage except damage granted specifically due to the attack critting - static damage is the only thing that doesn't...

    D&D 4E 4E Character Sheet (PDF, B&W, 2 pages, portrait)

Hehe, thanks. I wanted to get a solid portrait version going before I started any other concepts though. And yeah, I hate seeing that much black on any given sheet, my poor cartridges can't handle the stress. ;)

Stats that don't have + Stat mod

21+Con+3d6 to the main target, 9+Con+3d6 to every adjacent target. Splash damage attacks benefit as much from crits as area attacks do. One thing to note though, is that static damage effects do not; they are not affected by any bonuses or the like.

Stats that don't have + Stat mod

Actually, yes it is. The only thing that isn't maximized on a crit, is any extra damage that you got because you crit.

    sneak attack

Maybe at times, but once you get over it, you start to enjoy the game more. :) Oh, and the fighter can lay down the smack pretty hard when push comes to shove, as can most people, but its not his primary job anymore, whereas it is for the rogue. I had an interesting moment during our last...

D&D 4E Can anyone now compare squares to hexes using 4e actual play?

Another small consideration for you; you can't cut corners on a 4E grid and that would be gone on any hex layout.

    sneak attack

One good piece of advice is to totally disregard anything you knew about 3.5 when you start playing 4E, its a completely different game. Rogues can sneak attack anything in 4E, just as you can crit anything and so on. The few monsters that can't have something done to them will have this very...

D&D 4E Can anyone now compare squares to hexes using 4e actual play?

Actually, the way bursts and blasts are handled would be totally messed up, plus you wouldn't have straight walls anymore either. ;) Personally, I see no need for hexes, a regular grid works just fine. Oh, and don't forget that by changing to hexes, you're messing with class balance, since...

Experience Point Weirdness: Is my math funny or theirs?

Absolutely on purpose. They have very well defined ideas of how certain things scale across tiers, and XP is no exception. Why would this bother you anyway? Besides not quite being easy to calculate on the fly? (which really isn't a problem if you ask me)

    D&D 4E 4E Character Sheet (PDF, B&W, 2 pages, portrait)

Will wonders not cease, 'tis a character sheet! :) As the title says, the sheet is split into two pages, with all the more relevant info on the front, so you don't have to flip back and forth like a madman. The style is simple, yet distinct, and strives to keep everything organized and easy to...
