    Can you count?

Looking at this again, it's a very inspired form of a base-64 counting system (i.e., the largest value a single glyph can represent is 63, at which point you'd need a second glyph, or some kind of other visual indicator, to denote a number above that). I can't help but be reminded of Maya numerals.

D&D In a Castle Organizer to Launch D&D Dungeon Master University

Though I respect that a lot, I'd be fired if that were my job (after killing Jason off and countless screaming Argonauts).

What are you reading in 2025?

To quote something I heard/read somewhere sometime: "The public wants critics to tell them what's good. Critics want to tell the public what 'good' means."

D&D In a Castle Organizer to Launch D&D Dungeon Master University

This sounds like a skit from Son of the Beach. "Founded in the mid-2020s, today Dungeon Master University is ranked #1 in unaccredited colleges!"

What are you reading in 2025?

I just finished reading Norse Myths / Classical Myths, part of the "Classic Library" series of books. I'll note right off the bat that I'm not at all sure I've gotten that title right, largely because of the slash mark in there. That's because this book is actually two different books that have...

What are you reading in 2025?

Belatedly cross-posting that I recently read Fox Fires, an original short story by TSR alumnus Steve Miller. I'll note, as an addendum to what I wrote over in that thread, that Miller has subsequently gone back and edited the text to fix the find-and-replace error that turned all instances of...

What are you reading in 2025?

My understanding is that mythology, as a classification of literature, is considered to be nonfiction in the sense that it's part of cultural studies.

EU Vice-president says once a video game is sold, it is owned by the customer.

Nice to see someone standing up for the consumer for a change.

D&D General Why did Marids change?

The Simpsons taught us all a lesson in that regard.

What are you reading in 2025?

I got into a debate with someone a while back with someone who said that school libraries should only have academic works, and not contemporary popular fiction (including graphic novels, manga, etc.). My counterpoint was exactly what you said here: that schools should have things which make...

D&D General Why did Marids change?

Nah, it's just a red herring.

D&D General Feeding/hunger rules for vampires - all input appreciated

Pathfinder 1e had a fairly detailed optional system for vampiric hunger (which also worked for other undead who needed to feed on the living). You can find it over here: "The Hunger".

What is/are your most recent TTRPG purchase(s)?

I just finished reading Fox Fires (affiliate link) from NUELOW Games, and my immediate takeaway is that it's a decent product marred by poor editing. Written by TSR alum Steve Miller, Fox Fires follows the format of a lot of recent NUELOW products, in that it's a work of narrative fiction with...
