I certainly think it should ignore all DR since it's a direct magical effect -- heck, even Spiritual Weapon does. It is the DM's game, though, and if you can't change his mind I'd just let it go unless you think this will become a significant problem.

They can have the effects of the Mage Armor or Shield spells without penalty, so I don't see why this wouldn't be different from other force effects.

"Magic" simply means that it has to have an enhancement bonus of +1 or greater, so a weapon would not be able to bypass DR against evil and magic when it is not enhanced yet has Align Weapon (Evil) cast on it.
