Top Five New RPG Books

This year:

1. Grim Tales
2. Beyond Countless Doorways
3. World's Largest Dungeon
4. Hamunaptra
5. Expanded Psionics Handbook (would probably be replaced by 'Slavelords of Cydonia' if I had it in my grubby little mitts)

Haven't thought enought about next year, really.

What is this and who wrote it?

Sounds interesting.

I suspect he means the "DM's Directory of Demiplanes".

It's a Ronin Arts PDF, written by Phil Reed and Michael Hammes

Here's a link: Directory of Planes

There's a demo version there for download.

Ronin has a bunch of Planar stuff now, including a bunch of planar factions by ENWorlder Mouseferatu.

Also, Ronin publishes books by me. But don't hold that against them.

3) Hamunaptra
4) Ars MAgica
5) Paranio XP

Of stuff to come:
1) Blue Rose
2) Thieves World
3-5) Advanced MM, DMG, and PHB that Green Ronin are putting out

Top five faves of the last year (in no particluar order)...

  • Ars Magica, 5th Edition
  • Sidewinder: Recoiled (Print version)
  • Ex Machina
  • Grim Tales
  • HARP (which I think is eligible)

And looking toward the future...

  • A Game of Thrones
  • Mutants and Masterminds: Noir
  • The Black Company
  • Fall of Man
  • Can't recall the name of it, bu that Charles Rice thing about the Samurai (Blood and Samurai maybe?)

1. Beyond Countless Doorways
2. Book of Iron Might
3. Unearthed Arcana

I'm still thinking about 4 and 5. Actually, other than the above, I don't know how many products have really excited me; the XPH is nice, I suppose, but I don't use it for my campaign.

The vast majority of the stuff I buy is WotC, so this list is going to be a bit biased toward them. In no particular order of the products I can think of:

1. Eberron Campaign Setting
2. Expanded Psionics Handbook
3. Hyperconscious (yeah, a lot of this stuff was straight from Mindscapes, but it's nice to have it 3.5ed and compiled)
4. Races of Stone
5. Unearthed Arcana

Though I would like to take a look at World's Largest Dungeon and Iron Kingdoms. Beyond Countless Doorways isn't something I really need, and Book of Iron Might looks interesting but not something I'd actually use. Sharn: City of Towers gets honorable mention.

As for what I'm looking forward to, I would have to say:

1. Complete Adventurer
2. Codex Anathema (normally I wouldn't be that interesting in this, but a book with aberrations would help a lot for Eberron)
3. Five Nations
4. Dungeon Master's Guide II (curious)
5. Races of Eberron

Also Champions of Ruin and Explorer's Handbook get honorable mention.
