Oh yeah? Prove you're not just my sock puppet account! :P

[UPDATED] Has ADVENTURER'S HANDBOOK Been Cancelled?

Well, for one, your advice is to keep churning the same mill we've been on since the 90's. That dog won't hunt anymore. Morrus? What that that guy know about the gaming industry, anyway? :P

[UPDATED] Has ADVENTURER'S HANDBOOK Been Cancelled?

Well, I suppose no growth at all is a fine business strategy. Just suffer a slow, withering death and all. An aside: my introduction to D&D was Baldur's Gate, the video game, that by your advice would never have been made.

[UPDATED] Has ADVENTURER'S HANDBOOK Been Cancelled?

Because the quality of the books I *do* want goes in the crapper, such as every previous edition, ever. Pathfinder only puts out one big splat every couple years, and it is doing quite well keeping new crunch only in the relevant AP's. And it is growing, not shrinking like D&D would be at this...

[UPDATED] Has ADVENTURER'S HANDBOOK Been Cancelled?

Because no previous edition is undiluted enough to use as an evergreen product that will serve as a gateway into the greater money-maker. I sincerely hope that never happens again. The idea is to stop the treadmill right here for as long as possible. UPDATE: And why not kill it? Because it has...

[UPDATED] Has ADVENTURER'S HANDBOOK Been Cancelled?

You're still in the mindset of selling books to make a profit big enough to sustain WotC. That is no longer an option for D&D. It never will be again. Sell one book; make it evergreen. Sell multimedia tie-in's. It's the Marvel method, and it is proven to work where putting out "Player's Guide 3"...

[UPDATED] Has ADVENTURER'S HANDBOOK Been Cancelled?

Baha! I was reading my email and wondering why I had a sudden craving for it. This explains it. Ok, it's lunch time and I *AM* getting Chinese food.

[UPDATED] Has ADVENTURER'S HANDBOOK Been Cancelled?

Nevertheless, splat-bloat has a deleterious effect on whatever edition it's a apart of. If WotC (as it has in the past) banks its revenue stream on splat, then splat becomes a cancerous growth; it gets bigger and bigger because it must. PF did a good job staving this off longer than WotC ever...

    Deluxe DM Screen Releases Today

Interestingly enough, the feature I thought most redundant and unnecessary, the NPC random tables on panel #1, are what made my wife (a DM also) go "Ooooooh!" So maybe they got it right after all.

[UPDATED] Has ADVENTURER'S HANDBOOK Been Cancelled?

Just say no to splat books. No more crunch bloat. Leave the edition treadmill. I don't run published adventures, but it makes sense to me that WotC should devote itself strictly to adventures, campaign settings, and only the crunch necessary to run them. I, for one, am thankful my players aren't...

    D&D 3.x Converting a 3.5 Whirling Dervish to 5E RAW

The character I'd like to convert to 5E my old 3.5 whirling dervish. Obviously I can't directly convert it but I'd to capture the spirit of it. The base of the character was a fighter/rogue, and relied on multiple attacks. With the more tightly restricted action economy of 5E how would you do...

13th Age 13th Age monster powers for 5th edition D&D

I can't view the link at work. Can you present an example or two with comments? I am curious.

    [LPF] Return to Boar's Ridge

Hey guys, Invisible Castle is giving me fits. I can't log in, and I'm not sure my previous rolls were even logged in. Is anyone successfully using it? Trying to log in and even trying to reset the password just takes me back to the log in page! As soon as I can get this straightened out I can...

D&D 5E (2014) Players Killing Players for stupid reason

We had a record number of 4 PVP deaths in one campaign, all on the same person. He was in a fit of pique, I guess, and exclusively rolled up antagonistic PC's. As an example, our party is attempting to subvert an evil lich emperor; his newly created PC gets into a minor argument about something...

    D&D 5E (2014) DMG - breaking bounded accuracy already?

    D&D 5E (2014) Beefin' Up Monsters!

First I'll add more. If that doesn't cut the mustard, I will add some quirky abilities that fit the monster's theme (also helps break up metagaming) and add commensurate XP value to the monster.

    [LPF] Return to Boar's Ridge

Yes! I'm still here! I'm currently neck deep in tax season (work for a tax prep), so I don't get much free time. A couple times a week I do get off work before bed time, so I will read up and update ASAP.

D&D 5E (2014) Purposefully Hindering your Character at Creation

IMHXP, characters with significant hindrances are also hindrances on the party and the gaming group. Many players, especially my dedicated CN gamers, use flaws and hindrances as an opportunity to be as disruptive as possible, with the presumption of license because it's all "in character."

    D&D 5E (2014) Temple of elemental Evil

For the moathouse and certain highly-guarded areas of the ToEE, consider allowing something like 0th level henchmen (1d8 hp, +4 attack, 1d8 damage) and some adept healers (1d6 hp, 1d8+2 healing, twice each) to accompany the party; hand them out to players and have them keep track. The original...
