    Heinrich Himmler action figure

Who said it was meant to be funny? In any case, the figurine is rather well rendered. I can't imagine it would ever be used in play(ie a toy), but rather to be looked at. Figurines are frequently made of frivolous things of negligible worth, so why not representations of historical figures? In...

    The Magic-Walmart myth

I had a player ask me for a "portable merchant", a la the djinni in Hordes of the Underdark. In effect, a "Poke-mart". :D

Killing as fun and games: a question for the Good Guys

It is doomed... if we stick to the strict paradigm of the canon, as you suggested. If Dwarves, a "race/nation" of warrior/smiths, reknown for the skill at warfare can be predominantly Lawful Good in alignment, why not the Medegians? Perhaps the nation needs not only to remain Good, but become...

    Final Fantasy J

Frida smiles, bowing to the gentleman, Indigo. "It's nice to meet you, sir. My name is Frida. You own businesses here? Would you happen to know any of the bou-" She's about to say more, but she sees Kyo's obvious distress from Leita's barrage of speech and hugs. "Besides," Frida adds, looking...

Killing as fun and games: a question for the Good Guys

I don't know about the characters in your games, but PCs and NPCs in my games have never thought of returning from the dead as inconsequential, nor have they concluded that death is meaningless due to resurrection magic (even repeated instances of such magic). I don't think they would even with...

Killing as fun and games: a question for the Good Guys

You're right, that is ghastly. :uhoh: You're assuming the clerics are amoral, allowing people to be killed in "wargames". You're assuming the gods of the clerics have nothing to say about that, and would do nothing in response to it. You're assuming the spirits of the dead would want to...

Killing as fun and games: a question for the Good Guys

Given the additional information posted by yourself and other posters, it just doesn't seem feasible if the nation is restricted to the canon methods of defence, especially with such a huge power/resources differential. The best solution seems to be: Don't piss off Ivid to begin with.

    Prestige class: Chameleon

Adding to Nifft's suggestions, I had potential character planned out that took Ardent Dilettante (Planar Handbook) levels to further increase the character's flexibility. Even if you take only one level, every skill becomes a class skill for your character, making Able Learner even more valuable...

    Superior Unarmed Strike

To be fair , the PHB II does have a bunch of snazzy fire-based monk feats, as well as Versatile Unarmed Strike (chop or stab with your unarmed strikes instead of pummeling). :)

    Final Fantasy J

Frida mumbles a short prayer, invoking the healing spirits to mend the party (ooc: activates Sacred Healing: everyone within 60 feet gains fast healing 3 for 6 rounds. She uses up 1 more turning attempt). Smiling slightly, she aproaches Kyo and peers around his shoulder, "Hey, bud. Nice light...

Killing as fun and games: a question for the Good Guys

Sure. I'd say that has more to do with winning, and the show of power (for what ever purpose) and/or clever thinking. In other words, overcoming a challenge. People like to win, and critical hits (and rolling high on dice) would seem to satiate that desire. All in my opinion, of course. :)

Killing as fun and games: a question for the Good Guys

The trouble is, the canon restrictions took place in a time line where the nation of Midegia had little/no warning. In our hypothetical situation, they have 100 years to get their act into gear. Points 3 and 4 are no longer necessarily true, nor do points 1 and 5 have to remain true. Even 2...

Killing as fun and games: a question for the Good Guys

Hehe, sorry about that. It's late, and my heater isn't working. :) Now, I don't know a whole lot about Greyhawk or its canon, but from the information you've provided (and it's rather interesting, if I might say so), conventional warfare doesn't look like it would work. An alliance between...
