How can an enemy get past the Fighter?

Having multiple monsters helps too. All it takes is one well-placed bull rush and the fighter's going to have a hard time stopping them.

"How to run a PC quick, clean and effective - Forked Thread: (...prevent Grindspace!)

We use 1" and 2" wooden discs. They're 10 for a buck or 4 for a buck at Hobby Lobby. Add some cheap finger paint from Wal-Mart and you've got any number of different colored markers. We've also used colored paper clips, but the ones I bought were apparently made out of adamantium or something...

D&D 4E Forked Thread: [4E] accessories and other products we buy

I'll buy every hardback rulebook I can afford. I won't be buying any adventures, that's what the Dungeon subscription is for. I won't be buying any power cards, the character builder will print those and until it's fully functional I've got my home made single sheet tracker. I won't be...

    Ultimate gaming table

Our group had a "we want an uber table" craze for a while. We saved up over a few months, talked about plans, and decided what would be best for our needs. In the end we bought two of these. They do everything we need them to by having more space. No under-storage is needed because everything...

Is the Fighter’s Combat Challenge an Opportunity Attack?

Too powerful. As it is, there's a tactical decision on the DM's part of whether to have one monster eat a CC attack so the rest can attack as they please. If it were an OA, no monsters could do it. And on the flip side, it's too weak and time consuming. A fighter would have to constantly decide...

    Jumping over Opponents

Do you count creatures who are 5' 2" as occupying the square above their heads, and let them be attacked there? If not, they probably shouldn't hinder movement either. If so, remind me to always play short creatures so fliers can't attack me without entering my reach. :)

    Fighting a black dragon...

That's why he said it would hamper the dragon's actions. Though if you are going to do it, you'd be better off dropping one of them every so often and creating a new one with that turn's minor action, even further muddling up where you are.

Manual of the Planes: The Evolution of Rules Complexity

I ran a 4e adventure that took place in the negative material plane with homebrewed subjective gravity rules in place. The result was that PCs who could control themselves (i.e. had a high wisdom) would often use it to their advantage. Those who could not would pick a down and stick with it...

    Fighting a black dragon...

Other than it being boring? The party could just stand 6 squares away from both of the clouds and be out of his breath range.

    Proud Nails?

Also, most NPCs won't have feats, so even if there's never a PC wizard in the campaign without leather proficiency, there will still be wizards in the world running around in cloth.

    Proud Nails?

Cloth armor isn't irrelevant unless all you care about is AC. There are some useful enchantments that can only be applied to cloth.

    Initiative Question

It looks like you may have missed another rule as well, since delaying doesn't normally let you maintain a power longer. Check out PHB page __, though the basic idea of it is that delaying doesn't extend beneficial effects or cause negative effects to end early.

    Vicejaw Crocodile

It looks like they intended for the clamping jaws to be a replacement for the bite, since the croc can no longer bite them, but clamping jaws does more damage. The wording also makes it look like it was meant to be a free attack, with the standard action converted to dragging the prey away...

    Force Orb Question

It would appear that I've been a bit of a pissy little bitch the last couple of pages. Sorry about that. I'll be stepping back from this thread now. I think I've said everything I can about the subject anyway. Happy gaming!

Trying to understand the proper way to think about powers

Since we're talking use limits, magic items are also limited. You can only use one daily from a magic item per tier (1 at heroic, 2 at paragon, 3 at epic). You get one extra use per milestone you achieve that day. You can't use a single daily from the same item more than once unless someone...

    Force Orb Question

Thanks! then what did you assume the "kill" meant? My point exactly. Or have you missed that we're now takling about force orbing objects, and that I have repeatedly pointed out that the ground is an unnecessary target in most cases? Honestly, dude. Try to pay attention. Yes, it might...

Because we're playing a game, not an excuse for the GM to masturbate his ego.

    Fighting a black dragon...

It's not a TPK machine power. It requires the GM create an area where there is no space without a deadly cliff within 2 squares (1 if there are dwarves around). It's possible to have an encounter where there are dangerous cliffs available, but not deadly ones every 2 squares. You're excluding...

    Force Orb Question

There you go not reading again. Again, please try to keep up. It's only a few short posts, reading them all shouldn't be too terribly difficult for you. I never said otherwise. Honestly, if we're going to continue this, you're going to have to actually read the thread. Now your lack of...
