Does a Death Ward Protect against Phantasmal Killer?

Summon Monster & Phantasmal Killer work very similar too. Both create something that CAN kill you, but might not.

    Spell Mastery and multi-class Wizards...

Although the point is moot now, since it only works with Arcane spells... The Wizard would know Flameblade, although he would know it as a Druid. A Druid/Wizard character is still a Wizard, just as it is still a Druid. So anything that effects one of these classes would effect the character...

Humans gaining feats sooner then normal

I'm not a big fan on house rules myself, but curiousity got the best of me and I had an idea I wanted to share to see if it was a little overpowered or not. I don't plan on ever using this myself, but maybe someone else might. I was thinking, why do humans start with an extra feat and 4 extra...

    Spell Mastery and multi-class Wizards...

Ok, the Heriophant idea might be the best way to go. Didn't really look at that PrC yet. I was thinking Flameblade. It's just part of a character concept I was working on. Of course, not sure at what level you'd qualify for the Heirophant. By that time, I might want to do more damage then...

    Spell Mastery and multi-class Wizards...

The way it reads is that, it is specific to a Wizard as far as which class can take the feat. As far as mastering a spell with it, it doesn't say "Wizard Spell" at all, it says choose a number of spells (not Wizard spells, but any spells).

    Spell Mastery and multi-class Wizards...

If I was a level 2 Druid and hit 3rd level and chose to take a level of Wizard, could I pick the Spell Mastery feat put choose a Druid spell instead of a Wizard spell? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Prerequisite: Spell Mastery is available only to...

    Playing a Ranger

Would you consider playing one of the Ranger variants (like the Urban Ranger or Monte Cook's Ranger) or are you going for the standard PHB Ranger? Reason I ask is because you can make an Archer-type ranger (easier to do with Monte's Ranger) and take advantange of Entangle. Entangle your...

How a DM can counter cheesy PC tactics w/o using cheesy DM tactics.

Well, yes it is cheesy. But also incredibly effective. Why should we stop using an effective tactic though? That would be stupid, and I'd rather be cheesy and effective rather then stupid.

How a DM can counter cheesy PC tactics w/o using cheesy DM tactics.

Thanks for all the nice suggestions. Just to clarify, the reasons I call them "cheesy" is because I think it is "cheesy" for a DM to come up with a tactic that specifically counters a PCs tactic. I mean, all the time that is. It gets redundant. If we were a party of Rogues but all the DM...

    reading attack vs invisible caster

If you can "attack" indirectly and still remain invisible (such as cutting a rope bridge), could you toss alchemist fire in an unoccupied square and have the splash damage hit someone yet still remain invisible? Seems to be the same thing to me as cutting a rope bridge.

Does a Death Ward Protect against Phantasmal Killer?

Kinda like Phantasmal Killer spell, huh? The fearsome image that you see would be as indirect as the damage you take from Fireball. You see your worse fear THEN die. Phantasmal Killer is also not a "save or die" spell. It is a "save or be feared" spell. And the effect of the fear which is...

How a DM can counter cheesy PC tactics w/o using cheesy DM tactics.

This is true. Maybe I'll bring that point up the to DM next time this occurs. But that still gives the Rogue the ability to do damage, while the opponents get a 50% miss chance on him.

How a DM can counter cheesy PC tactics w/o using cheesy DM tactics.

Blindsight is a level 3 or 4 Cleric spell from Magic of Faerun.

    Truestrike and volley spells

So basically the wording of the spell overrides the wording of the feat? Because cleave says, "The extra attack is with the same weapon and at the same bonus as the attack that dropped the previous creature."

How a DM can counter cheesy PC tactics w/o using cheesy DM tactics.

In a certain campaign I am in (I am one of the players) we have a tactic where I (the Cleric) cast Deeper Darkness on an object (like a coin) and Blindsight on our Rogue. When ever a battle occurs, we expose the coin, clouding most of the battlefield in darkness. Then the Rogue unleashes sneak...

    Truestrike and volley spells

But I thought you added all pluses and minuses for a Cleave? Like if you did a power attack with a -3 to the attack, you have to do a -3 power attack on any cleaves as well? If you do a charge attack and end up killing the target, if you are able to cleave, would you not get the +2 (from...

So, how would you get max jumping distance for a 6th level character?

Irony is when you are reading this post and then Van Halen's "Jump" comes on the radio, like it just did for me =) Anyway, I just thought you might like to add a Ring of Jumping in there too, since you are 6th level you can probably afford it.

    Keen and Vorpal

I always wanted to make a Vorpal Sap. I hit you for 3 subdual damage, and your head falls off. Have a nice day. Yeah, I know it's not "legit", but man would that be funny.

    Bizarre Tactics & Combos

I got to do a cool "tactic" the other night. We were fighting aboard some sort of slave galley in the middle of the ocean. This galley was manned by orc pirates, and it was armed with catapults and ballista's. During combat, an orc jumped on top of a ballista to attack me. During my turn I...
