Wow. Could you be any more assuming of what I was saying? I listed those games as inspiration based on what the OP was asking. I wasn't saying your an idiot, play these instead. I said D&D Minis was basically a board game.
My further comment on a deeper experience was my personal preference...
If I want a "deeper experience" I'll play D&D. If I want to play a D&D Boardgame, I'd probably just play Heroquest or Descent. It's the same reason why I don't play D&D Miniatures. I think its so close to D&D its kinda a waste of a game. Given the choice between the two, I'd play D&D everytime...
You have a lot of choices. Go to boardgamegeek.com and take at the exploration category. You'll find tons of games. Some of the most relevant would be:
Heroquest
Advanced Heroquest
Warhammer Quest
Descent
Dark World
etc.
I'd also take a look at Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures. That's basically a...
I desperately need new dice for our new weekly game (yay!) and I was thinking of taking a drive to one of the NSLGS (not so local game stores) in Philly to see what was up tomorrow. Having never done Free Comic Book Day I'm just curious how this works. Do you just show up and they give you stuff...
Roc Games? Holy crap. Is that a blast from the past. That was the first website I think I ever designed. Roc was around long before d20. We actually started working on our own inhouse system and I left that company with one of my friends to form Inner Circle.
Looks like someone posted a product already: http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?p=9028371&posted=1#post9028371
It'll be interesting to see what WotC does.
We sold 800 copies of Denizens of Avadnu through distribution and we were the first 3rd party monster book released for 3.5. The sad thing is the presale numbers through distribution prior to 3.5 were 1800. We were the #1 company with Impressions for 2 months, and I was told that our sales were...
You create a similar statement that says something to the effect of: "The contents of this product can be redistributed as Third Party IP under the terms of the GSL." You have a lawyer check it over and you're done.
Again, its something simple that really isn't a big deal. The whole product...
Then you haven't looked hard enough. How many SRD compilations are there for instance? An entire license? What's wrong with x, y, and z are copyright and/or trademark Inner Circle, LLC and are used with permission? Big deal.
Yep. Its certainly against the spirit of Open Gaming, but this prevents lame PDF publishers from creating tons of compilation products. I couldn't be happier.
Ouch!
Otherwise, about what I expected. Big thanks to Scott, Linae, and everyone else who worked so hard to bring this about. Now you guys can open the champagne bottles... :)
