This is the thing I don’t get about the 15 minute work day. My players say they go to sleep after an hour of adventuring I say “it’s only 9am, your nowhere near tired”. So they can stay up there for eight hours if they like, but the get nothing more than a short rest.

I think that might seriously undermine the flow of the game. When I have run games of Alien RPG the tables are a springboard for me as the GM coming up on the spot with something exciting and memorable.

Yeah, I know. It wouldn’t be the Imperial Inquisition. It would be whatever locale version filled niche for dealing with the inherent danger that psykers represent with out just killing them. You could have a parallel self policing version like the Veiled Alliance from Dark Sun. Either way...

I’d take a leaf out of the Inquisitors in the Star Wars dark times. Have the equivalent to Sanctioned Psykers part of (maybe undercover) the authority’s continual task of rooting out wrong ‘uns.

That one is batshit insane “and then there were eight wars and billions of people were killed. And then the Travellers arrived and there was decades of peace and the Spider-People built the Ultimate Uridium and challenged the Night-Men for supremacy of the …..”.

Very casual. I just throw out a DC for players to roll against and let my imagination run riot. Combat is as slick as I can make it.

I’d start doing the story and start imagining how scenes play out. I’d have a mental story board of how the plot will play out. Then I wing it.

The way I look at it is that gods are personifications of concepts in the world. So as murder is a thing that happens there is a god of murder. Rather than the god of murder being a god who happens to really like murder, it IS the concept of murder personified because of how sentient brain...

Crikey, that’s a lot of thinking for very little pay off. I just say ‘make a stealth check’ and set the difficulty in my head before they roll. If they pass they do what they wanted to do.

I think you would be better off talking to them outside the game. At my table the treasure is split evenly. D&D is not normally a competitive game.

In my game Darkvision is the old low light (cannot see in complete darkness) and Ultravision is for old style Darkvision.

I really like Tome of Beasts 1-2, and the Creature Codexes. Arcanum of the Ancients has some good monsters (but it’s not just a bestiary). The Shattered Land monster book is an interesting read. There’s tons out there. 👍

Ah, yeah, now I think about it one book (maybe 5E Foes- or something like 1sr Ed foes 5E feel) uses the term ‘combat advantage’.

Crikey. I have about 30 3rd party monster books and they all follow the same rules for 5E.

Does that need to be a problem? Having weird monsters that confound the players expectations is surely a good thing?
