I will be using them all. My first 4E campaign will be exploring the broader world of the Linley's Dungeon Crawl rogue-like game, so dragonborn and tieflings will be perfect for draconians and demonspawn, and I expect eladrin to make fine high elves or deep elves.
EDIT: I must say that I don't...
I'm in the process of tweaking the PotSM system to work as a (over)simplified submarine combat game set in the Tannhauser universe-German demonology versus Allied supertechnology. Anyhoo, I'm looking for submarine minis. The Axis & Allies submarine slate is woefully thin, and I'm having trouble...
I'm hoping there'll be a baseline of weapons that everyone's proficient in, like 3E's simple weapons, or each class gets a selection of chosen proficiencies in addition to their standard proficiencies.
Poor guy. I've got the same problem. Nobody 'round here seems to care about the setting at all; they might like the tropes, but they don't give a crap what "Cygnar" is or why Khador is angry at the rest of the IK.
Tannhauser is a great game that can be played with 5 people, but it's definitely around 45 minutes, nothing like 8 hours. My RPG and Pirates of the Spanish Main groups all love it.
Pretending that all sneak attack is backstab-style, "throat slitting" is silly. It can also represent feints (explicitly) and such. Besides, we don't know how it's going to work out in 4E; we don't know if rogues, as strikers, will require flankers or a separate feinting mechanic to work their...
I can make just about any character concept I want using 3.5; I know a lot more about D&D than anyone I game with. I'm hoping that 4E will make it easier for more casual players to make exactly the character they want. I'd like to play D&D more, but at the moment the ease-of-use of Savage Worlds...
If the previously-mentioned "Cleric Training" and "Wizard Training" type feats work the way I think they do, it should be very easy to add the ranger's minor magical ability back in. You can even go back to the arcane and divine spells of yore! :D
A PoL setting based on the rogue-like Linley's Dungeon Crawl. Not set in a dungeon, just extrapolating the races and gods and suchlike into a wider world.
Wyzard Whately, that's an awesome idea. Good luck!
X has absolutely to-die-for burgers and fries. Sadly, they're like three hours away from me :(
X converted me to New York-style pizza. My Pirates of the Spanish Main group and I often stop by Monday nights after playing.
X restaurant is a great Chinese/Japanese place. I only ever get the...
I'd settle for point-buy abilities and non-random HP only in core just to stop the bitching of the folken who can't seem to realize that other people like to play the game differently, but aside from that I think that presenting all methods as equal is the best way to go. They're both valid...
I liked them both, and I definitely recommend reading the book. The ending is a lot more melancholy, though. There's also a much greater sense of the huge, varied faerie world around them.
Klaus, you shouldn't say X>Y if you haven't even seen Y :p
