    After the Bomb (2001)

Is anyone else a fan of the After the Bomb (2001) game from Palladium? I'm rereading it for probably the twentieth time. It has the best mutant animal creation rules I've ever seen. Not terribly well balanced I admit. But just so darn cool. I can spend hours just playing with all of the...

    [Trailer] Wanted

He drank the Koolaid. He became one of them, lock, stock and barrel. Hey, it's a great life if you are an immoral monster.

WotC: Goodbye, Loren Greenwood, hello Greg Leeds

It has been my experience that management types (and those hired by management types) are often picked because of *who* they know, not *what* they know. The "Old Boy" network is alive and well in the US of A. I've seen it again and again.

Maybe I'm just not enough of a grognard... :)

WotC: Goodbye, Loren Greenwood, hello Greg Leeds

Oddly I've bought RPG books off of the WalMart online store. But they aren't carried in the brick and mortar stores. It's like a dirty little secret.

    Doomsday (Spoilers galore)

I talked my wife into going to see a matinee of this today. Read no further if you wish to see the film without spoilers. OK. The movie is a visual feast. Chock full of images that will warm the cockles of any Post-Apocalyptic heart. This film will be welcomed fodder for...

WotC: Goodbye, Loren Greenwood, hello Greg Leeds

Frankly I'd rather see the company fold than turn D&D into a tabletop MMO/wargame. 3.5: The Last Edition of D&D.

I fear for your metal health if you do.

WotC: Goodbye, Loren Greenwood, hello Greg Leeds

My personal experience has been different. I've never met a person with an MBA that I would let manage a lemonade stand, let alone a company. They have shown me a complete lack of understanding of those that work for them AND a total failure to grasp reality. If it doesn't fit their preconceived...

How often do you use traps?

I *very* rarely run anything that looks like a dungeon crawl. I am far more likely to use a trap in a natural setting like the wilderness or a natural cave system (obviously one that is occupied). I do use them in a classic "raid the ancient tomb" or "storm the evil wizard's tower" sort of a...

WotC: Goodbye, Loren Greenwood, hello Greg Leeds

I've seen too many marketers and MBA holders convinced that they could "manage anything". I want the head guy at WoTC to be a gamer. Not some marketing suit. This is another example that WoTC is headed in the wrong direction. Nothing good will come of this. I told my wife this news (she is a...

    [Trailer] Wanted

I enjoyed the comic quite a bit. It was nice seeing the world with the bad guys in charge. But like -I Am Legend- the book and the movie aren't going to resemble each other much. There just isn't any way that comic could ever be made into a faithful film and not get an NC-17.

Land of the Lost movie 2009 (Will Ferrell)

Ah crap. Another cherished childhood memory goes down the drain... Ferrell was great in -Stranger Than Fiction-. But I've never seen him be "funny", ever. He is the wrong choice for this picture. Crap.

Would you Swap 3.5e for Exalted?

Especially as I already own both.

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

Make it Piercing/Bludgeoning and it sort of makes sense. I still think it is a sub par weapon choice. I'd rather take the Heavy Flail and save a feat.

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

Weapons exist in the real world. Monsters and D&D style magic spells...? Not so much. I expect weapons to behave as they would in the real world. I see that as a very low standard. Did you look at the rapier illustration? Looks like what a five year thinks a rapier looks like. Illustrations...

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

Hey, I'm a tolerant guy. I don't mind if someone points out that I might have repeated myself. Lots of threads, it's bound to happen. What I'm not tolerant of is the Spiked Chain... :)

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

This thread has gone on long enough that might be a possibility.

Is the Spiked Chain Fighter really that Cheesy?

That picture is still absurd. Look at each link in the chain. The links are rectangular. At each corner of the rectangle is a projecting "spike". There is no way to wield such a weapon without damaging your own hands. That is a design flaw.
