Today My Bookcase Collapsed Under the Weight of My RPGs

I suggest IKEA. I picked up a discount shelf, fully assembled, for less than $50. Even the new ones are reasonably priced... Office supply stores can often have decent prices as well...

What Creatures "Break" A Fantasy Game World For You?

But so are horses... does that hinder a players immersion? I've used dinosaurs without issue. I've even used "primitive" Dragons (Woolly Dragons even...) from a distant past era... The game just has too many freaky animals and monsters for a dinosaur to stand out in the crowd... And I like the...

What Creatures "Break" A Fantasy Game World For You?

Dinosaurs wouldn't even "ping" my weirdness radar. In every campaign I've ever run (SF or Fantasy) there has always been at least one adventure that took the PCs into either a "magic" world or Earth in a Post-Apocalypse setting... every campaign... I love to mix and match...

What Creatures "Break" A Fantasy Game World For You?

Why? There are real world animals and plants that are immobile and "hunt" by just waiting around for something to bump into them... a fantasy version seems perfectly normal...

Future of gaming companies with the impending recession ?

While the recession might still be in the theoretical stage I know that my personal finances have effected my buying gaming products. Things are tight in my household and one of the first things to be "cut" was my gaming budget. I might get to order a couple of used books next month. But that...

    Why the many Ranger variants?

To me the ranger typifies the classic "lone wolf" character. And that has been a popular stereotype with adolescent males since humans gained speech... who doesn't like the idea of the lone hero, surviving the elements with just his whits and skill and occasionally kicking butts? But... that...

    Cloverfield

My wife and I saw it Saturday. We thought it was awesome. I liked that it didn't explain things. That it just *was*. Life is like that much of the time... And who doesn't want a friend like Hud? This was the actors first feature film... not a bad start... Though the shaky cam thing made my...

Diary of the Dead... If you like zombie movies, check it out

I've been thinking about your question since yesterday. While lying on my sofa dying of the plague myself... RE uses "magic' as well, it just calls it science fiction. The 28 Days/Weeks movies are suppose to be set in "reality" and use a virus as the mechanism of zombiehood... which annoys me...

Diary of the Dead... If you like zombie movies, check it out

I enjoyed them, mostly because of Milla... But the T-virus is just as silly as the Rage from 28 Days later... The T-virus alters the planets biosphere? Huh? But Rage is sillier... it doesn't obey a single rule of how a virus actually functions...

Diary of the Dead... If you like zombie movies, check it out

My main problem with 28 Days/Weeks is that by taking out the "magic" (actual undead) and making it "science" (by using the virus concept) the movies fail miserably. Neither the writer nor director ever took Biology 101... I've been wanting to see Fido, is it good?
