Thanks for your comments. Did you feel that the beginning is too hard for a group of 1st level characters? Was this the reason you had them begin in the prison at level 3/4 after running the party through LMoP?

Only 29? I thought they were approaching Episode 100 now? I average 1 episode a day but this week has been rough with real life stuff so only able to watch 1 so far this week.

This is absolutely why I started watching it.

I think you will always have those that will want to dip into another class during the course of that PCs progression no matter what class they start with. You see other PCs in your group doing things that your PC can't and you get envy. Sometime it isn't even the other PCs you are playing...

I doubt it makes any difference to anyone in this thread who does not like the rapier, including me, but I feel it should be pointed out that the rapier does "piercing" damage according to 5E rules which would seem to further separate them from all other swords since they all do "slashing"...

Meric of the Shattered Lands was a human Figher I played in AD&D many years ago. He was all about justice and driving out evil and whatnot until one day he picked up a sentient rune sword off a demon he slayed. He was never the same Meric after that.

Interesting interpretation. The fire then is only an effect of the magic but not itself magical anymore than ordinary mechanically or naturally occurring fire.?

It's life really. Some don't know any other way and others get caught up in the heat of the moment and forget themselves. After that you have a scant few who are simply trolling for a reaction.

Yeah, it stands out like a sore thumb first because it's the only dex based sword that does more than a d6 and for no apparent reason other than that. Then there is the name. I think if they simply made it a d6 like the scimitar and short sword it wouldn't stand out so much for the wrong reasons.

Published WotC adventure campaigns do not appear designed this way for 5E. It feels like the intent was to create more flexibility in game play but it does seem to mean more preparation for the DM. As uncreative as I am this is still a huge time savings for me over creating my own home brew so...

Thanks all for pointing out the level of tedium with respect to time and random encounters/effects. It seems as though this may be something that could be on again/off again depending on the circumstances and game flow.

Keeping a Giant Spider, or some other creature able to scale walls, from descending or ascending the wall to gain an advantage in combat? Or perhaps a creature that is able to scale walls they ended their last turn on the wall?

I have actually seen vines grown on hard surfaces like brick and concrete and even certain rock formations but it's usually something porous. I would probably have no problem allowing the growth on the rocky wall unless it was known to be something hard like granite or marble.

In case it isn't obvious, this thread previously ended before 5E was in existence.

I have seen the PHB "dart" called a throwing knife. I don't see why it couldn't be used in melee.
