    D&D General Which BG3 companion?

You're allowed not to call other people and editions stupid, and to view a character's weaknesses as a role-playing opportunity. BG3 is in 5e (mostly) - different rules than 3.5e and AD&D. And, at least when I got to Act 3, she was 10th level. That's a lot of Skill Points in 3.5e, and it only...

    3.5e rules.

    D&D General Which BG3 companion?

I was thinking for a new group within my 3.5e Greyhawk campaigns, they could maybe meet a 1st level untadpoled Karlach when people are lining up to be asked questions to enter the city where it will start. Karlach, being a Tiefling from Baldur’s Gate by way of Avernus, will only speak Sword...

D&D General Greyhawk fans - How to fit older modules with Age of Worms

No, only Shackled City Adventure Path because WotC wouldn’t allow it.

    D&D General Which BG3 companion?

Me too on not FR. My thoughts: Karlach or Wyll could get hit with Dismissal and sent back to their native plane (the Prime Material Plane) but a different planet within it. Or any origin character could while in the Astral.

D&D General Greyhawk fans - How to fit older modules with Age of Worms

My house rules are Core 3.5 rules plus: Military Scout Ranger we made up Ability to take a feat to convert Turn Undead into mass healing, like PF1 Some other specific Feats from Net Book of Feats. It's the adventure content that I borrow from all the different places. Lots of converting...

    D&D General Which BG3 companion?

Which, if any, BG3 companion would you to meet as an NPC, or have join your party as an NPC, or run as a DM? Choose as many answers as you like.

"The best - Stygian." - Subotai in "Conan: The Barbarian" That said, I run 3.5e, with a lot of A&D (1e, no UA) content, and some 3e, PF1, 5e, and a dash of Harn.

D&D General Greyhawk fans - How to fit older modules with Age of Worms

I would just slot in what you want to slot in, and slot out what you don't. In and out is what I did when running the Shackled City Adventure Path, but SCAP has the advantages of a book form (nixed by WotC for later AP's) and a huge fan following with fan-written expansions. For what it's...

D&D General Greyhawk fans - How to fit older modules with Age of Worms

I’m not worthy of company with Snarf and Grodog (or AdmundfortGeographer if that’s who I think it is)! I am honored. I haven’t run AoW, but I’ve read and taken notes on it all. And I still have an active 3.5e Greyhawk campaign, over email. What help are you looking for?

Noble Knight has back issues. That’s how I completed my collection of all the print issues of Dungeon. :) I’m slowly (for years) reading every issue and taking notes in a searchable/filterable Excel spreadsheet, which is how I discovered some missing Greyhawk geography in the past. Not sure...

    AD&D 2E Jakandor

I don’t remember hearing about Dragon Mountain. And I rediscovered the existence of Jakandor, though I haven’t read or owned it. Anyhow, yes, I agree 2e became overgrown with too many subsystems, which is part of why I love 3x so much (still) - simulationism with consistency so it’s more...

D&D General The D&D Multiverse: Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die

Yes, the self-referential aspect of D&D has grown over the decades.

    AD&D 2E Jakandor

Disagree, but everyone has a right to an opinion. :) I think the reason Greyhawk is popular is, yes, because it had the best adventures and the iconic characters and their spells and artifacts and all that. Because it was the first setting published. It can't really be separated from AD&D...

    AD&D 2E Jakandor

I'm OK with their focus on Forgotten Realms. It seems to be what everyone (5e people, BGT3 people, and HAT watchers) think is "the" D&D setting. I don't like "moving the timeline" forward approaches as has been done in FR (and in From the Ashes for Greyhawk). I prefer the approach in Harn -...

Not exactly, but I have done holiday contests in game of various sorts: archery, baking, swimming, etc. The non-combat ones I do as a Skills contest.
