    Shields useless for non-fighters?

While a quite viable option, you do end up with 1 less AC from scale, and if you want to take scale specialization then you do in fact need a 15 dex.

    1st Level Character : score of 20 ?

Except that those wands don't actually exist. None of the wands give daily spells, only encounter spells (and none higher then level 7). So even if your DM let you invent a brand new magic item, it shouldn't contain any of those spells.

    Grabbed/Immobilized/Slowed/Lame

movement is a pretty big deal in 4e, being grabbed or immobilized can be quite nasty Not sure if it needs to be made any more powerful. Note also that the "famous paralyzing undead" you mention can still paralyze (or at least stun) as well as inflicting insane amounts of damage once a target is...

Bracers of Mighty Striking: Near Useless?

You also can't pin anyone down if your attacks are too weak for your enemies to care about an AoO. Keep in mind that it's almost impossible to keep an enemy from charging one of your allies or beating on the melee striker if he's willing to suck up the attack (you can only stop his first move...

Bracers of Mighty Striking: Near Useless?

I must strongly disagree that this item is anything resembling useless. For my fighter I will happily take this over a magic shield at least at low level. By boosting the power of my AoOs, this items lets me do my job way better then some daily magic item use that's a standard action and...

Unexpected TPK: Unbalanced, bad circumstances, or fluke?

The cleric never even got to take an action due to poor initiative. That doesn't exactly leave much room to run away or change tactics. As for your claim that the party failed when they decided to go outdoors and risk being attacked....actually I really can't come up with anything suitably...

Unexpected TPK: Unbalanced, bad circumstances, or fluke?

As a side note, there are a few low level monsters who I feel do a bit too much damage. I'd be reluctant to throw a whole group a fire beetles at a first level aprty, just as I'd be reluctant to throw a group of guard drakes or needlesfang drake swarms. Much like previous editions you should...

Occupying the same space as a conjuration

I did catch that, it seems like most conjurations do occupy a square though....or at least most of the ones I've looked at (mostly cleric ones). Flaming sphere is kind of wizard, I think I'd personally have to rule that it burns it's own square too, but by the RAW that doesn't seem to be the case.

Why are Magic Items listed in the PHB?

Also I think the general rule now is that players should never have any reason to open any book other then the player's handbook. Alot of the new magic items have daily powers that the players will need to reference when they use them, and that means they go in the PHB. As for making items...

Occupying the same space as a conjuration

Good point. It's still a bit unclear to me if you can stop in a conjured creature's space but that may make me thing that you cannot. Makes guardian spirit much less good if that is true.

Occupying the same space as a conjuration

So does anyone have any thought on if you can end your turn in the same space as a conjuration you can move through? For example can I summon a guardian of the faith (cleric daily 1) on an allied square? so that anyone moving up to him to attack him gets smacked when they end their turn? The...

How to detain an Eladrin Rogue? ie, teleporting

Hmm....I'm definitely strongly in the gamist camp, but I think I'd have a serious problem with the "because I said so" reason for why I couldn't teleport. Much better to at least make the effort to come up with a reationale even if it's a flimsy one.

    Fighter damage dealing potential...

Not a bad little combo, but not really broken either. We are rerolling 1s so on average your d4s will get an extra dice one time in 3. So we get an average of 2 extra dice from the 6d4, which then provide an average of 2/3 of an extra dice. Your average d4 roll is a 2.5 so on average your...

How to detain an Eladrin Rogue? ie, teleporting

Somebody mentioned this earlier but didn't elaborate....a short or narrow tunnel to the cell serves to prevent teleportation. You can't teleport anywhere that requires you to squeeze. That seems like the setup that would be the most space effective and least annoying for the captors.

    why are orbs good again?

Both the staff section of magic items and the arcane implement section of equipment state that a staff counts as a quarterstaff if used in melee combat.

    Why impose Slow in melee?

Some monsters can negate stun but can't negate immobilize. Still there are only a few like that so it is odd.

Stay back! The joy of OAs.

Having reviewed some of the counterarguments, I'm inclined to change sides and think the attack does in fact occur 2 squares away. Going over the rules I can't find any reason for thinking that an attack that occurs when an enemy leaves an adjacent square should occur before the move, and an...

Stay back! The joy of OAs.

Well by my understanding, it would interrupt movement at the point the attack was made. And the attack has to be made while your enemy is adjacent, both from the wording of the feat, and the fact that the player cannot AoO more then 1 space away. So it seems it would stop the target from moving...

    Attack from two squares away

I'm also inclined to think this is a feature and not a bug. Many powers would dramatically lose their utility if you allowed a 1 space charge.
