Turning favored class into a bonus, not a penalty

Back when I used to play D&D more often I had a house rule that gave PC's an extra skill point whenever they levelled in a favoured class. Humans and Half-Elves always counted their highest level class as favoured (as they do normally) meaning a Fighter who decides to become a Rogue doesn't get...

    Does this setting exist?

The Iron Kingdoms World Guide has almost no rules (I think there's one table in the book which has rulesy stuff on it, and most characters have their class/level listed, but no other stats). You could run it with just that, but the Character Guide is also mostly background/setting, maybe...

Have you given your kids fantasy names?

Now maybe they're rare in America, but I know several people with Arthur and Alexander as names (my middle name's Alexander) and I did know a Raven at one point... My only daughter is called Alexia Victoria Mercer - picked in part because I loved playing the Witchfire Trilogy for Iron Kingdoms...

    Spy-genre Poll

I'd be tempted to say Duel Stat for Spycraft 2 and D20 Modern, in a .pdf release the extra stats aren't going to be an issue (and from a Spycraft PoV don't add a lot to the pagecount anyway). The only thing is chases and other dramatic conflicts can be boring in D20 modern without add-ons...

    Best Modern Game System

Does that make me one of those die-hard mac owners who refuse to sully themselves with Windows?

    Best Modern Game System

I'd like to suggest Spycraft d20... -Interesting feats and a large variety of classes allow for tailoring (and if you want more get Back to Basics which offers d20 modern style classes, with more talent options... -SC skills tend to cover more than D20 modern skills, so are more useful, but...

    Heroic potential and magical talent

As a note, generally I take 1 of 2 options when I GM, the PC's are either part of an elite 10% (or similar percentage) of elite people. There are others like them on the planet, but most people just don't have the capability for PC classes. The other option is everyone has the capability and...

Recent Star Wars Saga chat session with designers

I'd quite like it if level got removed entirely from the Skill factor. Higher level characters can have more skills, but not better. For instance in this Saga 3 level system have Non-proficient at +0, Proficient at +4 and Mastery at +8. Then just modify for attributes. That lets you get all...

    [Nexus] Run as a skill

If you're doing run as a skill, how about Carry Weight? I've always felt that you should be able to train at lifting and carrying. Or perhaps combine them both into an Athletics skill?

[Iron Kingdoms] Where is the Alchemist class?

It's not in any book yet, Iron Kingdoms stuff has an annoying habit of referencing stuff that's in a book to be released at some point in the future.

    Modern/Sci-fi style minis?

Cut N Paste job from Spycraft Wiki, sorry - don't have time to reconnect all the links - but google is your friend... Personally I think a lot of 40K figures fit the bill especially Imperial types (or Tau depending on your aliens, or just using helmeted ones), and there's usually plenty of 2nd...

    Master of Kung Fu

I'm not familiar with Blood & Fists (though I've a nagging suspicion that I know someone with it, so might be able to have a read), but I imagine that you'll run into problems. This is mostly as Spycraft 2.0 feats tend to be more powerful than their d20 modern equivilents. It may be possible to...

Re-balancing the 1/2 Orc for my own campaign

Meh, halfbreeds shouldn't exist anyway - I say if someone wants to play something big, ugly and hard hitting, play a real orc, they're only ECL 0.

Hmmm, that list of unarmed feats has extra ones in Morg, Fist & Footwork aren't in the core book.

D&D 4E The Soonest You Would Purchase 4e

While I'd like to say I won't bother, the truth is - if they released it I'd buy it as soon as the money was available. I doubt I'd get much over the Core Books at this stage as I've moved away from D&D to Spycraft, M&M and WFRP.

    Spy-genre Poll

Spycraft - it rocks. Seriously though - what sort of suppliment you planning on doing? Just a generic book on spies, or something else? If it's a how to play spies book, then Spycraft and D20 Modern have already got it covered, if its something on the lines of adventures, or expanded options...

    Master of Kung Fu

Spycraft (2.0) rocks for cinematic martial arts, with interesting options, 1 can do near as well, if you get the Pan-Asian book. Rampant FanBoi point over, I have no idea of the source material so can contribute no-more.

Gamma World - Wheres the love?

Never really played it, did get the GWd20 book, but it seemed to have interesting backstory and poor rules implementation. Omega World d20, was incredible fun, even just making up characters was a riot.

    Why aren't potions labeled?

One idea I had once was keying all potions into things we usually had in the house, and make the player drink a thimblefull of it when their character did. Of course healing potions would have to be something that tasted medicine-y something like aniseed flavouring mixed with vinegar... That...
