Unearthed Arcana Light, Dark, Underdark - November's Unearthed Arcana

I don't think you get a free attack if someone approaches you. You only get one if someone move more than 5 feet within you reach (walking around you).

Also the Fey-Warlock is usually mischievous but more often a positive than sinister..

    D&D 5E (2014) Arcane Domain

Ah, that low Int/hight Wis angle makes perfect sense. So they are too dumb to learn true Wizard spells, but their fascination of all things Arcane makes them great supporters for those with real powers (tedious Research, looking for new Artefacts/Books, calm the angry mobs,..) and the Gods award...

Unearthed Arcana Light, Dark, Underdark - November's Unearthed Arcana

Yeah Crunch Time! Thats a very great Article and with so much stuff in it! 8D The Ideas are great but some things seems a bit wonky at the moment: * Close Quarter Shooter: This adds advantages from two great Feats and add a +1 to Attack. While I really like that Style, it seems a bit to strong...

    D&D 5E (2014) Arcane Domain

I don't think that's the same. A War Cleric is a great supporter of WAR, where not only Fighters are needed, but also those men who motivates the troups, bless their Weapons, heal the wounded and pray for the dead (and still fighting side by side with the pure Fighters). Thats also the same...

    D&D 5E (2014) Arcane Domain

I cannot wrap my mind around Arcane Domain Clerics. Why would a follower of Mystra (or other God of Magic) become a Cleric instead of Wizard?

    D&D 5E (2014) Bard's Instrument

You need them for spells that require a Material Component. But you can use a Component Pouch instead. You find the Rules under "Components" on Page 203. There is no such thing as a casting style. Spells just have up to three necessary Components to cast it .. verbal, somatic and material...

D&D 5E (2014) Dexterity Vs Strength An In Depth Look

I do agree that Dex is far better for a majority of classes, but lets bring a counterview for those who have access to Heavy Armor and all Weapons: Strength Advantages vs. Dex: * More Damage (Two-Handed Weapons) * Better Armor (+1 with Heavy Armor compared to the other types) * Can use far more...

New SCAG Info: Someone Got The Book

I'm surprised that the Storm Sorcerer don't get additional Spells. What does he get instead?

    D&D 5E (2014) Witch Hunter Class thoughts

All the power lies in the Subclasses, which are very interesting, but the first two level are extremely weak. On the first level his only special Ability is a non-combat situational one, while only having mediocre stats (same as cleric but without having spellcasting). At second level he gets...

    D&D 5E (2014) Use of Investigation

Investigation for Disable Trap was mentioned a few times, but this should actually be a roll with the Thief Tool Proficiency. :P I like the general Skill-System of 5E, but the Skills themselves have to much overlap or are sometimes not clear. Perception vs. Investigation is always confusing (I...

D&D 5E (2014) How many combats does your 5e group typically have between long rests, if you have at least one?

Most Session I played only have 1 or 2 fights! These Adventures are often Exploration based, so there are even multible long rests between the fights. Dungeons are very rare and if it is a combat-focused Session (infiltrate and destroy this orc-lair) is still don't have more than 3-4 Fights. Of...

    D&D 5E (2014) How do I 5e?

Damnit, how could I have forgotten the Proficiency! :) One of the best new features. All tests are a simple ability roll (d20+Ability mod). If you are proficent in the action (weapon, skill, etc.) then you add the profiecincy bonus, which is the same for everything.

    D&D 5E (2014) How do I 5e?

It's basically 3E but extremely streamlined (the Starter Set and the PDF have more or less the complete Rules!). Here a few key changes: * Bounded accuracy: Your bonuses (attack, stats,..), except HP and Damage increase very slowly. So you can use a far bigger Range of Monsters vs. your Heroes...

    D&D 5E (2014) Survivor Core Races: HALF-ELF WINS

Dragonborn 5 Dwarf 23 Eladrin 2 Elf 13 Gnome 9 (-3) Half-elf 25 Half-orc 22 Halfling 20 Human 28 (+1) Tiefling 12 Nearly upvoted the Dragonborn, but while I love the concept I do not like the mechanical Implementation in 5E. The Human is superb. The normal Version is great for Newcomers...

D&D 5E (2014) Spells Without Attack Rolls: Can they Critically Hit?

I think the fact that you cannot crit is more than compensated by the fact that save-spells can be cast in Close Combat, ignore Cover and many other Effects that give Disadvantage.

Barbarian 18 Bard 21 Cleric 21 Druid 20 Fighter 22 Ranger 18 Rogue 23 Monk 11 Paladin 16 Wizard 18 Sorcerer 17 Warlock 9 ---- Warlock +1, Sorcerer -3 I think that the Warlock is what the Sorcerer should have been, a very different take on the Wizard.

    D&D 5E (2014) Whack-a-mole gaming or being healed from 0 hp

I dislike in-combat healing more and more in the last years and 5E is not even the worst offender here. So I fully understand your frustration! -) You could use the optional "Injury" Rules from the DMG (page 272). So they fear becoming reduced to 0 HP again and start either receiving Healing...
