    WoW and 4e - where's the beef?

"Healing is done by a dedicated member who is absolutely rubbish at doing anything else." Really? My Shadow Priest begs to differ. Most of the dedicated healers in WoW are pretty good at other things. Priests melt faces. Restoration Druids are still a force to be reckoned with.

    WoW and 4e - where's the beef?

True enough. It all comes down to opinions, and I've learned that most people are not willing to change theirs. Like it or don't. By the way, I hope you get over your insomnia; having dealt with it myself on a number of occasions, I understand how much it sucks.

    WoW and 4e - where's the beef?

Fair enough. You do bring some good points. I know people who are turned off to 4E because it "feels video-gamey" too. Me, I've given up on 4E, not because any so called video-gameyness, but because in the end, after playing it for a few months, it didn't satisfy my D&D itch; ultimately, it...

    WoW and 4e - where's the beef?

You could be right. I was simply pointing out the things that stuck out in my mind about the system. You are free think what you wish. My intention was not to say it is like WoW, but to point out some of the things that can cause people to think it resembles WoW. Personally, I feel that 4E has...

How do we WANT magic to work (Forked Thread: ... medieval war...)

I want both!! I think there is room for both scientific and mysterious magic in a game world. I would view scientific magic has civilized, human (or humanoid) magic; magic spells would be things we have figured out and utilized with a fair bit of predictability, hence a fireball spell is...

    WoW and 4e - where's the beef?

I have played WoW and a bit of 4E, and I can see a number of similarities between the two. I'm not saying that they are the same, mind you, but some aspects of 4e make me think of WoW: 1. The traditional roles are now officially referred as such. Sure, people have been calling fighters "tanks"...

Good equipment for a Companion Familar

I am currently playing a gnome Wizard/Druid/Arcane Hierophant, and I'm looking for advice on useful equipment for my riding dog companion familiar. So far he's been pretty tough, but the monsters are getting bigger and hitting harder, so I think I need to beef him up. :)

Eadric et. al. (The Paladin and his Friends).

Can someone direct me to the page that Tree-ludja is explained in more detail? For the life of me, I cannot remember much about it; Yew has ignited my interest.

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder Sneak Peeks (Old thread)

I like most of the changes thus far, with a few exceptions: 1. The Casting Defensively change irks me. When I first read it, all I could think was "great, that lame Combat Casting feat is being shoved down my throat. Again." It's nice that the feat is actually useful for a change, but I still...

Hmmm, I completely forgot about that conversation. Now it all makes more sense. :p

    Aeon (updated 10/9/14)

So Hlioth somehow survived her encounter with Soneillon. I'd say I'm shocked, but death doesn't seem to be much of a obstacle these days.

I'll never live long enough to experience all of 4e

Meh, if you say so. It all seems bland to me. But that's just my opinion. I could be worng.

Good lower level spells to bother a higher level party?

This thread is getting just a little... silly. I as a DM would not allow silence to affect the water in the bucket. It seems a little munchkin-like for my taste. And casting it on a grain of salt and putting it in water wouldn't work, either; once the salt is absorbed into the water, you no...

Good lower level spells to bother a higher level party?

I agree. Care must be taken. It's too easy for a DM to push the I Win button.

Utility Magic: What's your favorite and why

The use of a summon monster spell to broker information is a clever idea. I'll have to steal that one for use in the future. Thanks! :D

Utility Magic: What's your favorite and why

On the magical items side of things, I think one of my favorites is a little gem from the 3.0 Magic of Faerun sourcebook: The Travel Cloak. This handy item provides constant protection from the cold (endure elements), keeps the wearer dry from the knees up, provides enough trail rations to feed...

Utility Magic: What's your favorite and why

I have never been a fan of combat magic; the act of hurling balls of exploding flame quickly becomes dull. I love playing magic-users because of the utility magic, the stuff you use outside of killing your foes and taking their stuff. If you want something dead, use a sword. :p I want to know...

Where Has All the Magic Gone?

I would be very interested in hearing more about this system of yours. Magic could use some vitality these days. Especially 4th Edition magic.
