Do your PCs spend money on non adventureing things?

Our party spent 20K throwing a party.

    Horses at high level?

Your best bet, on its face, is to use a combination of equipment (adamantine barding?) spells (air walk? barkskin? bear's endurance? even things like stoneskin might work) and copious use of the Mounted Combat feat (maybe in the form of a saddle that grants the feat and a small bonus to the ride...

    Mearls on Balance in D&D

I might be off-base on this one, but if I had to guess I'd say that T. Foster might come from the "if you want the PCs to fail, make them roll dice" school of GMing. That would explain the die-rolling minimalist approach he seems to be advocating.

Has Enworld ever made a giant group campaign setting?

IIRC, Daemonforge was the backbone of Morrus' original site when Eric handed the reins over to him.

How Do You Scan These Threads?

I skim the first page in General, then sometimes take a look at Rules. I'll occasionally look at the House Rules forum if the latest thread has an interesting title, and that goes for several others as well. I'll hit the Story Hour forum based on notifications or authors.

If you had to cut two core races from your game....

I'd kick gnomes because I prefer them more in the pixie-esque aspect, and elves. Then I would promptly cut the mechanics of the half-elf, cut and paste the elf mechanics on half-elves, and be done. I've done this before.

LoTR: One Book To Rule Them All?

Let me be clear - I have agreed/continue to agree with your conclusion that Tolkein should get bumped down the list or early twentieth century authors in comparison to Huxley or Joyce,. I was fishing for a more meaty counterpoint to Crust from someone else who (and I'm reading between the lines...

LoTR: One Book To Rule Them All?

This is one of the most condescending posts I have seen in some time. Your suggestion that anyone that doesn't agree with you is unreasonable is, at best, broadly insulting. It also relies on an appeal to authority fallacy in which you set yourself up as the authority. Neither reflect well on you.

LoTR: One Book To Rule Them All?

I'm curious as to how you quantify literary value. Is it impact on literature? On society? On culture? For example, who's work had greater value: Shakespeare's or Marlowe's? Upton Sinclair or Sinclair Lewis?

    PHII druid shifter variant experiences

I just built one of these for a short term game, and am anxious to try it out. If this works as well as I think it might, I'd be interested in seeing Polymorph head down this road as well.

    Harhall Characters

Cool! - As far as I know a byrnie and a hauberk are nearly the same thing, though hauberks grew into full fledged chain mail by about Hastings. Hauberks could be considered longer, I guess. By the way, I'd be tempted to make the byrnie medium armor for the purposes of your game (with Armor as...

    Ultimate 12th level Rogue

Use wands of vampiric touch. Touch attack + temp hit points + no chance of resist energy/protection from energy throwing a wrench in the works.

    Harhall Characters

Questions: 1. Is this something you will chronicle in the Story Hour forum? 2. You said you had some rules changes - at first glance we're talking skills. Any others? 3. I noticed that you have 2 PCs with chain shirts; are those supposed to be hauberks? In addition, what other tech strictures...

Ohio Gameday - Feb 24, 2007 - Fun was had by one and all!

So, I had fun at GameDay! Other people probably also had fun, but I don't care about them. For those who didn't make it because of the weather, we perfectly understand - the trip home took me (and I imagine everyone else) about three times as long through a sleetstorm, and traveling on the...

Qwillion - come prepped to run another slot in the afternoon if necessary (heck, I'll be doing the same, if I can). I think we've got enough slots to fit everyone in that's expressed interest here as is, but if we have walk-ons the day of that will skew those numbers and we'll need the extra...

I am Enk's sorrow at Crothian not being able to come (and not just because playing an Infrared is teh coolest). A NOTE TO PLAYERS: We've got a lot of game orphans in the afternoon now, so sign up as soon as you can!

Wooooooooooooork![/James T. Kirk] I'll take you off the list, but only under protest. That looked like it was going to be a fun game. I hope you can make it anyway!
