So, where's the 4E monster books?

I think that has a lot to do with the GSL and the lack of desire of many to publish under its current incarnation. Hopefully that will change with the revised GSL. Hopefully we'll get the revised GSL in this lifetime!

Anyone have the new Quintessential Wizard?

Wondering if anyone had this yet and what your impression were. I'm really curious as to how everything balances with what we have in the Player's Handbook? Anything wonky? Anything seem waaaay off? If not, this could be a really good resource for those of us looking for more options.

Peter Lee talks about Modrons miniatures

Also...why not combine the concept of Modrons and Inevitables together? That way you can make their appearance a little more standard, but still mechanical/alien. The trick would be making them fantasy without crossing over into the realm of pure Sci-fi.

Peter Lee talks about Modrons miniatures

Agree. There's plenty of room in the Astral Sea for such a dominion, and the freedom of the 4E alignment system allows Modrons and their extreme "lawful order" behavior/belief fit within "Unaligned" just fine.

What was your favorite 1e/2e magic item?

Rod of Lordly Might. Deck of Many Things is a close second.

So I have the Martial Powers book.

So no new weapons? The whip, net, etc from the Gladiator article in Dragon aren't included?

    Disappointed in 4e

Making every book "core/essential" isn't going to keep everyone buying, but it'll be interesting to see how well the future PH's, MM's, and DM's Guides sell. I wish WoTC would focus on ADVENTURES more than splat books. The could stop spending all their time and energy on designing more rules...

To all D&D fans - what are the top 3 specific changes 4e needs in your opinion

True, I suppose some of those pieces are being held back. I guess I should have said that I wish the same style of artwork appeared more often. Some of the chapter openers are very cartoony and not very impressive (with some exceptions...like Raven Mimura's piece with the Tiefling Skeletons). I...

Top 3 positive 4E changes-Forked Thread: ...specific changes 4e needs in your opinion

    1. Simplification of Monster Design. 2. Change in Saving throws to Static Defenses. 3. Condensing and simplifying the skill system.

To all D&D fans - what are the top 3 specific changes 4e needs in your opinion

I've noticed that several posters have mentioned the art/layout, and I've seen that comment in other threads too, which made me wonder... What happened to all that cool art in the preview books? The ones that DID inspire everyone, that got everyone clamouring for wallpaper images? I look back...

    Do you like modrons?

Hmmmm, I'm thinking of Modrons as these complex metallic polyhedrals that when interacting with other creatures "unfold" into more complex limbed forms. Yes, just like Transformers! Although more like Frenzy than Optimus Prime.

To all D&D fans - what are the top 3 specific changes 4e needs in your opinion

    1. More extensive Multi-classing rules, allowing for the aquisition of your second class's other abilities. (For a trade-off of course) 2. Better selection of powers for each class. Too much duplication and not enough variety within a single class. 3. Better system for power aquisition and...

Tell me about your D&D group

My core group of 5 players have been with me 9-10 years now, with a few others coming and going. Usually I have 7 players. 39, Male, Professional Carpenter 31, Female, Sales Manager 36, Male, Manager/CSR 35, Male, Sales Coordinator 35, Female, Office Manager 30, Male, "Loads UPS cargo planes"...

    Cantrips and Wizard Multiclassing

I would go with either option 2 or 3. With option 3, I would just say 1 feat for all 4, with Arcane Initiate as the prerequisite. They are more utilitarian than anything else, and honestly, not that overpowering. I'll be surprised if we don't eventually see more multi-class feats that allow...

Non-combat roles in 4E (Was Forked Thread: When did I stop being WotC's target...)

I think you could probably combine Crafter/Professional together. Also, I would add: Spokesperson.

When did I stop being WotC's target audience?

See, I think about that alot when I see threads asking what someone's "vision" of D&D is. Its a lot of different things for different people, but for me, D&D has never been about the exact rule set. When my friends and I reminesce about memorable moments from games long past, we never bring up...

When did I stop being WotC's target audience?

I wonder if we've reached the point where D&D must become a Genre, rather than a specific game? In a way we're already there: Pathfinder, C&C, Runequest, OSRIC, 3E, 4E, etc.,etc.

WotC changes how D&D mini's are going to be sold.

Sorry, I was discussing all of it, not just the character power cards. I hope you are correct in saying that its unlikely they'll have anything unique in the monster packs, but I fear that will not be the case.
