    Things I Wish Publishers Did/Included?

Yeah, that would be great. Also, really good indices. And not just in core rulebooks.

D&D General 50 Years of D&D On a Single Chart

If we're counting first to last product, the technically the last official 1st Ed product was "L3 Deep Dwarven Delve", published in 1999. But I'm far from convinced that's really a good metric. I'm amused, though not surprised, at the amount of debate that a simple, light-hearted pie chart has...

D&D General Top selling 5E official non-core 3 books? / Why aren't adventure books catching fire?

This is a really good point - any talk of current D&D products not doing well can only be relative. If you look at the sales numbers of D&D products over 50 years, and omit the core rulebooks (since those always sell well), the list almost certainly has all the 5e products at the top end (with a...

D&D Movie/TV Joe Manganiello: Dragonlance TV Show No Longer In Development

I wish I could say this was a surprise.

[Kobold Press] Tales of the Valiant Game Master's Guide is Live!

Well, I weakened and took the plunge. On the one hand, I remain slightly uneasy about backing a Kickstarter before the last one delivered, but on the other Kobold have a really good track record and do good work.

D&D General Mike Schley, WotC Cartographer, discovers a treasure trove of official 3.5 and 4e maps!

Quite a few of the artists seem to do that - Jared Blando is another example I can think of. I'm torn about this: is it awesome that these are available, or shocking that 3e and 4e are now so old as to be considered "classic"? :)

D&D General 50th Anniversary- Are You Not Entertained?

I'm not particularly entertained. But you know what? I'm cool with that - I'm old and jaded enough now that I don't need the hype and the big build up. Let me know when it's out, and I'll take a look.

D&D 5E (2024) Things You Think Would Improve the Game That We WON'T See

I'd start with a much smaller set of core rules, presented as a boxed set of six or so booklets: core rules, classes, equipment, grimoire, DM's guide, and Monsters. But for an awful lot of it, software is a likely way to do - again, ideally in a form that some/all of it can be downloaded for...

Why PCs should be competent, or "I got a lot of past in my past"

One of the crazy things about D&D is that it generally has players create characters who get threatened by something like a giant rat or a bandit but who are also already strictly superhuman - they have far better stats. far more power, a much wider range of abilities, and heal vastly more...

    Who’s your best Batman?

I stand corrected. I had assumed he'd come across either as Luke Skywalker or as Cocknocker (from "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back").

    Who’s your best Batman?

Not really. Voice acting and live action really are different disciplines, with different requirements - consider, for example, the huge physical transformation Affleck went through in order to play the role. Or, conversely, that Hamill is great as the Joker, but probably wouldn't work in...

    Who’s your best Batman?

Bale, with the caveat that I haven't seen Pattinson in the role yet. But, really, it's Conroy. Who, incidentally, did play Bruce Wayne in live action once (to my knowledge) - the CW's take on "Crisis on Infinite Earths".

D&D 5E (2024) Things You Think Would Improve the Game That We WON'T See

Oh, one more: moving away from the hardback book format, and especially the core three. It's the most efficient delivery method in terms of cents-per-page, but that's just about all that I can say in favour of it.

D&D 5E (2024) Things You Think Would Improve the Game That We WON'T See

4e-style monster and encounter design. A serious reduction in caster power level (especially cantrips). A corresponding boost to martial power levels, especially at high levels. Eliminate 1st level ASIs - as soon as they became floating, they became redundant. And my most radical suggestion: a...

D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Core Rulebooks: 'We'll Still Be Working On Them In May'

It depends - not all errata is created equal. If the errata amounts to "magic missile is spelled incorrectly on page 204", then who cares? But if the errata is "delete everything on pages 8-12 and replace it with..." then that's slightly more serious. :)

D&D 5E (2024) Would you be fine with classes that you can't always play but are better than base classes?

Pretty much this. In theory, there might be an argument of having some classes more powerful that you can only play if your ability scores are below certain thresholds (the reverse of the old 1st/2nd Ed idea), but even that is really more trouble than it's worth.

    D&D 5E (2024) Speculation Welcome: What's Next for D&D?

Perhaps. But D&D has been enjoying an unprecedented moment of cultural relevance for almost 10 years now, and it surely has to end some time. A good candidate for that would seem to be the moment when WotC try to get lots of people to replace their $150 core rulebooks with some...

    D&D 5E (2024) Speculation Welcome: What's Next for D&D?

So much of the last ten years has been unprecedented that I'm not convinced having been around a few of these edition/not-edition changes really helps much - the rules are just different now. I also think the answer of the question is "it depends", and based on two big unknowns: how are the...

Digital vs physical media which do you prefer?

Mostly digital. For movies, music, and like, I'm now almost exclusively digital. I don't personally have an issue with subscribing to a library of materials (Netflix, Disney+, etc), and if things come in and out of the library then that's fine - as long as the library itself is worth the money...

Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Specials [[SPOILERS!!]]

Yeah, I was deeply disappointed with "The Star Beast" for exactly this reason. Fortunately the other two specials were much better, or "The Giggle" would have been my final episode. (Which would have been especially unfortunate, given how good the Christmas Special was. :) )
