    multiclass warlock question

Well, since under the RAW you'd almost have to be crazy or willing to sacrifice significant powers and abilities for the sake of character concept to take anything beyond the initial feat (especially the MC Paragon Path), yeah, for many people, the initial feat WILL be all the multi-classing...

    Paper Minions - WT?

As a player of a 3.5 character who has significant AoE powers, playing in a group where everyone else is a melee combatant, I've found that if you don't let loose with your big AoE power in round 1, chances are you're going to be hitting your allies too. Which means you don't have time to...

D&D 4E Careful Shot vs Twin Strike....No Contest (4e spoilers)

Is Careful Shot too weak or is Twin Strike too powerful? If it is the latter, what if you were to make each of the 2 attacks with a -2 penalty? How would that work out?

    Paragon Multiclassing Questions

Multiclassing at the Paragon level seems not to have been playtested, or else it was massivly slighted as a way of discouraging it, I'm not sure which (or maybe it's both...) You have the option of choosing either to multiclass into the base class (and indeed lose 3 Paragon abilities compared...

    Paper Minions - WT?

Actually there is a very good incentive... if the PCs have been over-run by a horde of meleeing minions, the Wizard has the choice of using a single target or small area spell and only taking out 1 or a few minions, or he could use a large area effect that will harm his companions as well...

D&D 4E Careful Shot vs Twin Strike....No Contest (4e spoilers)

I agree they could be clearer, but here's how I read it: If there is a bonus to hit due to a certain weapon or condition, they put it before the "Hit" effect because they wanted it to be read in order. First the line for what attack vs what defense, then the line for the effects of a hit, then...

D&D 4E Careful Shot vs Twin Strike....No Contest (4e spoilers)

Looking at Rain of Blows, I think that's correct. You get 1 attack, and if you are using the right weapon and have 15+ dex, you get a second attack against the same or a different foe.

    Paper Minions - WT?

I like the idea of minions, and plan to use them, but they should not be automatically taken down in a single hit IMO. I think they should be taken down by the first decent hit, not the tiniest nick or scrape. So I'll be giving Minions a Resilience value. Think of it as Minion Hardness... it...

How are you going to fix half-elves?

Here are my changes: Half Elves – They get +2 Cha and a +2 to their choice of Dex, Wis, or Con. When choosing their Dilettante power, Half Elves may choose either an Encounter Power from another class and use it as a Daily power or an At Will used as an Encounter. They also receive a +1 bonus...

Does anyone actually need the DMG?

I had a similar reaction. I think if they wanted to sell more DMGs, they should have kept the magic items in there (and doubled or tripled the number presented from the shortened list in the already overstuffed PHB). That would in turn have left more room in the PHB, room enough for more...

    Polymorph - Gone?!?

If the magic items were moved back to the DMG where they belong, there would have been more room. Now magic items feel like shopping in a catalog along with bedrolls, rations, and 10' poles, rather than the mysterious objects the GM doles out to a lucky adventurer. There's plenty of room in...

D&D 4E Obligatory dump stats in 4e: the irrelevance of Intelligence

If both stats can do everything the other can do, why even have 2 different stats? Just fold them into 1 stat and be done with it. Personally, I think there should be differences, some things 1 can do that the other can't. Dex already has several things it can do that Int can't, such as basic...

    Polymorph - Gone?!?

Not entirely gone... the Warlock has several powers with the Polymorph descriptor, including Shadow Form, Wings of the Fiend, and Shroud of Black Steel. However, each has just 1 specific effect, you can't change into anything you want.

    Paragon Path Multiclassing

Are they planning to take the initial multiclass feat only, which is quite nice, or spend 3 feats to trade power for power and then go on to the multiclass Paragon Path and not only take lower level powers (7th at 11th, 10th at 12th, and 19th at 20th), but also give up 2 abilities at 11th level...

    Paragon Path Multiclassing

Warlocks already get Prime Shot, so there's a chance of conflict there too, and Defensive Mobility is the listed effect for Ranged Style, which means all rangers get Prime shot, whichever style they choose (though it seems it's certainly more useful to a ranged stylist.) However, I'll give it...

    Paragon Path Multiclassing

I keep revising and changing this, thinking of new and better ways to do things, but here's what I currently have: I'm keeping the initial multiclassing feats as they are for now. Yes, they effectively give the Skill Training feat plus an additional, weakened power, but they have a stat req...

Some things I'm curious about in 4th Ed

Since Greater Invisibility has traditionally meant "you can now attack while invisible", and GI only requires a Minor Action to sustain it, not a Standard Action, meaning you should be able to attack and sustain it at the same time, I too think there will be errata on this.

    Initial multi-class feat imbalances.

If you want to make it harder to qualify for multiclassing, you could raise the stat requirements from 13 to 15 each...

    heavy thrown

I think a case could be made that since 4e is an exception-based rules system, and most ranged attacks use Dex, but the Heavy Thrown quality is an exception to that rule, which requires you to use Str instead, that exception applies to any ranged attacks using that weapon, whether a basic attack...

D&D 4E Obligatory dump stats in 4e: the irrelevance of Intelligence

How about something like this, to give some added usefulness to Int no matter what your class: Intelligence Bonus for Skills – Highly intelligent characters have an easier time learning skills. Characters may choose a number of skills equal to their Int bonus. The skills may be trained or...
