    Dragon 399 - Ampersand

We get an Ampersand this month, which you can read here. Two interesting things from my perspective. First, there's a pretty good picture of the game board from the Conquest of Nerath boardgame. Second, and more importantly from my perspective, a preview from the upcoming Monster Vault 2, the...

    Themes article up

While I expected DS-style themes, I was pleasantly surprised by the new format. I think it has several advantages: -They're 100% compatible with all the existing class structures -They're almost purely additive - Personally, I'm not convinced that the encounter and daily power swaps were used...

You Wanted Character Themes, You Got 'Em - Dragon 399 ToC

I don't think so. While everyone usually concentrates on the minor mechanical benefit that the backgrounds provided, I always thought that answering the questions posed by each background where more important.

Dungeon 190 - Table of Contents

May's Dungeon table of contents is up too. Three of the articles support Gloomwrought and Beyond; I'm most looking forward to the "Eye on Dark Sun" article on the lost city-state of Kalidnay (more Ravenlofty goodness to go with this months theme?).

You Wanted Character Themes, You Got 'Em - Dragon 399 ToC

The May Dragon ToC is up here. This month is dominated by the release of character themes: alchemist animal master apprentice chevalier explorer guardian guttersnipe hospitaler mercenary noble ordained priest order adept outlaw seer scholar The revised PHB cleric, the templar, also comes out...

They released like 4 articles yesterday afternoon.

    Feats & Fighters

I think I'm glad to see Come and Get It changed in such a way that most people will stop whining about it. I guess it depends on how it actually plays.

    D&D 4E Class-less 4E?

Gamma World is basically 4e D&D without classes (classes and races were basically smooshed together and then randomized).

    Legends and Lore: Balance

There's a githzerai racial paragon path with an 11th level encounter power with this set-up; I'm sure there's more examples, but I can't think of them off the top of my head - dang cold!

    Have Dragon/Dungeon toc been posted?

Steve Winter tweeted yesterday that the delay to the ToC was caused by him being called to jury duty. I'm not sure if Bart Carroll is back from India or not yet, but it seems that they definitely need some more back-ups!

    Dungeon 188 - Baelard's Legacy

The last article of the month, the paragon tier adventure "Baelard's Legacy" is now up here. I haven't read it yet, but the thing I did notice, it doesn't use the delve format at all. All the maps and stat blocks are at the end of the adventure! Very interesting.

    March 2011 Errata

The first of the promised short monthly updates is up. It includes the Warlord errata from the "Class Compendium" article, plus a necessary change to the power strike power. You can read it here.

Rule of Three finally addresses an important epic tier question!

It is basically the desire to start at level 1 (or at lower-levels in general); since most games will start there, I believe most games won't make it into the epic-tier because it takes too long (I wouldn't be suprised if most high-level play is actually composed of one shots or limited arcs)...

Rule of Three finally addresses an important epic tier question!

I think there would certainly be benefits to increasing epic tier content, however, no matter how much high-level content WotC produces, I honestly believe that heroic and even paragon tier play will always be more popular by a very wide margin. Then it comes down (as Mike Mearls suggests) to...

Rule of Three finally addresses an important epic tier question!

I don't think this is necessarily correct. While I'm sure the level of support has something to do with it for at least some groups (and let's not kid ourselves, despite whatever shortfalls we see, there's still plenty of epic-level material in 4e; its probably the edition that best supports...

Legends and Lore: What's With the Polls?

Another thing to note about this particular poll, there was at least one thread (probably more) on the WotC forums that was encouraging ballot stuffing.

    Submission tips?

Here are the submission guidelines. I believe the article that Quickleaf was referring to was one of Steve Winter's editorials. Check those and his blog over on the WotC page for additional information (FYI, he hasn't updated his blog in a while).

    Submission tips?

I can't remember if that specific article was part of his blog roll or a feature on that site. I also wouldn't do an encounter by encounter breakdown; that's way too much detail, especially if you consider that the maximum length of a query they're looking for is around 500 words.

    Submission tips?

I usually don't include multiple submissions in a single email, but that has more to do with how I write then some sort of prohibition (I usually work on a single proposal at a time until I'm done, send it in, and then move on to the next one). I have sent in multiple submissions on a single...
