WotC recently pulled all the content that appeared in RPGA adventures, including the Gameday adventures, from the DDI tools because it was not vetted by the Developers and they never intended for it to be added to the tools. The Talon Amulet appeared in the first 4e gameday adventure.

Essentials hasn't dropped the 4e power model, its just tweaked its application. I also seriously doubt it will have this effect since no such materials will be included in the Character Builder, which IMO, is the single biggest obstacle to getting players to accept 3pp player-centric materials...

I believe that in a podcast interview, Mike Mearls said that there was going to be a new warlord build released this fall in Dragon that would work really well with the Essentials martial classes. Anyone have a link (maybe it was the Tome Show)?

This is a playtest version, so conceivably if enough people complain about the dual power sources, then it could still be changed.

What kind of article are you pitching? Are you pitching a short Dragon article or a Dungeon adventure/feature? If its the former, you want to trend shorter but if its the latter you'll probably need those words to convey what you're trying to do. In both cases, you want to walk a fine line...

They really haven't announced a new setting, but we'll be seeing the Nentir Vale Gazateer and a new 4e Ravenloft game similar to this year's Gamma World game. It should be fairly compatible with core D&D.

Yeah, the tokens are probably the biggest selling point for me since I'll get all of the stat blocks from DDI anyways. The addition of a new adventure is also pretty cool.
