    Druid and Wild Shape

It's fair to say he can't open a door as a wolf, although I might let him turn the knob with his teeth as a standard action or something. But, remember that if you're going to take away capabilities, you should add some as well. For example, if your druid is in a jail cell, and wants to turn...

Dragon Magazine Annual Cover and TOC

No clue on the star pact stuff, but the Punisher's Immortal Curse was limited to granting one action point per encounter, I believe.

    October 2009 Editorial Calendar

Awesome stuff this month! The Seeker, Barbarian and Wizard crunch, Abyssal genasi, and... gypsy people? What the heck kind of racial power are they going to give Vistani? Even Wikipedia says they're basically GM devices. Githzerai make good seekers, so they'll probably be Dex and Wis. The name...

    D&D 4E 4E Class Survivor - Round 6

Well, harder encounters should lead to more XP, which means faster leveling and therefore more treasure per session. It doesn't for many GMs that I play with, but strictly by the rules, being able to handle harder challenges is a good thing. EDIT: Amusingly, Wardens are the only defenders I've...

    Class Acts: Greatweapon Fighter

And hey, that one's broken too. I'll be shocked if it doesn't get beaten with the nerf bat in the next round of errata. Like what? Pulling out potions? Fighters have next to nothing to use minors on. If it were a Swordmage or Paladin utility, then I could see your point.

    4E Class Survivor - Round 4

What's there to dislike about the Rogue? It's the best-balanced PHBI striker, and a pretty cool all-around class.

    4E Class Survivor - Round 4

The weird part is that support characters are well-liked in other media; everyone loves the TF2 medic, and there's no shortage of healer players in WoW, for example. Maybe there's something different about RPGs that makes them less fun there? I know it was dislike of the cleric and druid in 2e...

    Dragon 379: Assassin Heroic Tier

Assassin will not be released in any book, incidentally.

Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder: Is it evidence that new editions don't need to be that different?

Yeah, I was thinking that too. The model he's talking about reminds me more of Apple: never announce anything until the day it's released.

Primal Power new builds spoiled on RPG.net

Curious as to what the Eagle Shaman will be, especially if they "give" the spirit the ability to fly--conjurations already can float in the air. Hopefully PP will help nail down what WotC's RAI for the spirit is, it's still not clear in the least.

    Monster Manual 2 Analysis

I think someone's already done it, I've seen one on the Wizard boards. From what I remember, the gap has narrowed, but will is still lowest on average. It depends on monster role a lot, though.

    4E Class Survivor - Round 3

Save the Shaman! One of the most evocative, flavorful and tactically satisfying classes in the game, bar none. I love mine and my spirit bear a lot.

    4E Class Survivor - Round 2

Eesh, two of my favorite classes on the chopping block! The Shaman is exciting to play and very flavorful to roleplay--I love having my bear do silly things, like drag my dwarf shaman around when he's got a wicked hangover. Their overall healing ability was unmatched until Divine Power's cleric...

Also, cough cough, you didn't see anything.

    Dragon 379: Assassin Heroic Tier

I like the idea of letting you use AS twice per encounter. That puts it roughly equal with the Ranger and Rogue MC feats.

    modifying the monk class. balanced?

It is in no way asking too much to be better than a fighter. If you had said rogue or warblade, you'd have had a point, but to be better than a fighter is frankly the baseline for a competent, effective class.

    modifying the monk class. balanced?

The number one thing monks need is flurry as a standard action. This is non-negotiable. They get all this increased movement junk, let them actually use it. If they don't get this, they stay a jumble of unrelated, asynchronous "kung-fu" garbage forever. With it, they become a pretty darn mobile...

    modifying the monk class. balanced?

Any melee class needs to be able to fly by about level 10 anyway, since beyond that point about everything else can. Let the monk not have to spend money on it--the wizard doesn't after all. If they can fly, and they need to eventually, then slow fall is useless. And keeping with tradition is...

    modifying the monk class. balanced?

Don't even worry about overpowering the monk. Give it literally every boost you can think of, and then some. Here are some ideas: -Full BAB -d10 hit dice -Flurry is a standard action. This is key. -Improved Grapple (the one bears get) as a bonus feat somewhere along the line. Level 5, maybe...

Primal Items are up now instead of tomorow

I play half the primal classes currently, dude. That's not incredibly specific! The druid and shaman got nothing useful here. And even my old barb wouldn't care about most of this stuff. The crit-booster ring is nice, and the armor is inoffensive, I suppose.
