[Minor Rant] How about that Index

I got the pdf formatted SRD for 7 bucks. 20 mb, but my notebook can handle it, together with my word files on NPCs, region, party and name lists.

What type of product would you most like to see from Wizards of the Coast?

    I'd like a 3E Al-Qadim Sourcebook, or a 3E FR Calimshan sourcebook.

Dragon #308 previews new ranger and barbarian!

I banned wish, timestop and miracle, and I currently have no wizard or cleric imc (as long as you don't count the fighter/duelist who multiclassed into one cleric level due to roleplaying reasons, and with wisdom 10 at the time to boot). I run a rather low-magic campaign, and any cleric or...

[Minor Rant] How about that Index

I love my SRD and other electronic sourcebooks. Nothing like having a search function (although with bookmarks I don't need it as often as I used to.)

    You're welcome.

Dragon #308 previews new ranger and barbarian!

That is why I always said that this ranger is overpowered IMC. I never said it was overpowered in a standard D&D game (whatever that is) - but I don't need to see the book to ban it IMC.

Dragon #308 previews new ranger and barbarian!

I banned the monk IMC, except for NPC villains. When I wanted a monkish NPC as a cohort NPC for a player I built a fighter/rogue with several unarmed combat feats. As far as the new ranger is concerned, I have a beef with - the 6 skill points, especially compared to my baseline, the fighter...

Fix the revised ranger in four easy steps

Very few people DM my campaign... but only those matter for my campaign. :)

Dragon #308 previews new ranger and barbarian!

Hey, I review any single PC before allowing it - a barbarian/rogue would have to be approved just as a single-classed rogue, and just as our single-classed barbarian was. Besides, you would need some druid as well to account for the spells. And, again, I don't want a spellcasting, full BAB 6...

What is your favorite d20 book?

The single most used book for me is the PHB, followed by Sword & Fist (mainly for some prestige classes I use for NPCs). I have a feeling the PHB could be replaced by the formatted SRD I recently purchased, since it will make looking up rules etc. during a game much faster, but this remains to...

Dragon #308 previews new ranger and barbarian!

Based on the information in this thread - which I have no reason to doubt, since if it were wrong someone would have corrected it by now - I can easily conclude that this ranger is overpowered in my campaigns. I can even more easily decide that I don't want such a "wilderninja" in my game.

Fairness Point-Buy and rolls other than stats

We use a moderated form of this in one campaign. The final character (inlcuding gear etc.) is subject to DM/player approval, and there is an upper limit for the total of the stat modifiers. Works out pretty well.

Revised Ranger: Yup, time for a poll

I am neither old school gamer (I started with 2E, and I hate dungeon crawls) nor a newbie (been playing since 1992). I think the 3.5 ranger is way too good - it is, imho at least IMC, an overpowered piece of crunch.

Fix the revised ranger in four easy steps

How would I fix the 3.5 ranger? Easy, I will ban it from my game. I don't want a "Ninja of the Wood" IMC.

    The problem with Cohorts !!

IMC I run "cohorts" as NPCs. The player has no more control over them as over otzher NPCs. The leadership feat doesnot exist IMC - a PC acquires all his or her followers and cohorts through deeds and reputation. The player gets some input concerning teh class/level of the "cohort", but that it is.

Dragon #308 previews new ranger and barbarian!

I have got two words for the 3.5 ranger: Banned IMC. There it would be overpowered, no doubt. (I don't care how balanced/cool it is in other campaigns, it is overpowered in my low-magic item campaign for sure.)

PDF: Free "non-fancy" SRD or $7 "fancy" version?

I bought the SRD. It will at least save me time in the two months until 3.5 - which is worth 7 bucks for me. The bookmarks make searching the document a breeze compared to my own compilation, which will make my DM-job much easier.

    What is Meta-gaming anyways?

Depends on the level of fun you have. I know that I have more fun with less metagaming (and with more social interaction than combat).

Should Scimitars be finessable in 3.5?

Besides, as Drizzt is not particularly effectively built in the FRCS he can't serve as the posterboy for "l33t" PCs anymore. He got good press as in that he cuts through anybody in the novels, but the stats don't back it up compared to most PCs of that level. I still remember the look on one of...

    What is Meta-gaming anyways?

Our party once cheerfully asked a stranger to help them raid a slaver camp when planning said raid in the tavern of the tent town the camp was located at. Unfortunately for them the stranger turned out to be the second in command of said slaver camp... at least it shows the treat PC and NPC alike.
